Using “thusly” in the shitposting community is a new type of irony. Not at all judging just found it a very fun coincidence lmao

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Sent this to my friends flexing a "top 65%" score. The site didn't make it clear that's not a good thing.English
16·4 days agoI remember doing the Mensa free test for shits and giggles in high school. Basically just gave you a “129+” estimated score and told you they couldnt “estimate higher” due to it not being a “complete test” and then wanted your to book an in-person IQ test for +100€. I just found it so funny how much snob copium Mensa is, like theres no way I have 129+ IQ. If I would care enough to find out i wouldnt pay 100€ either. At best IQ is an irrelevant metric at worst its used by terrible people who think IQ is an all-encompassing intelligence metric to boast about how allegedly smart they are.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do we reduce toxicity on the Fediverse, and on the wider internet?
31·8 days agoI think alot of users also moved to dbzer0 due to a certain Adobe software community moving there from reddit so I would assume its either a loud minority or the instance was already a dumpsterfire before it grew.
Nonetheless, if its not properly moderated or if the entire purpose and ruling of it creates the issues then it should just be defederated IMO.

5·10 days agoBleep is a person who has changed my life, Ive never seen someone be so misinformed and at the same time so far up their own ass they pop out of their mouth. It is genuinely impressive.
I see alot of my teenage self here; doubling down on opinions of subjects i was way too uninformed about to actually have valid opinions on. I did manage to get better though, but that was because i listened to the people who disagreed with me. Especially when proven with the straight up facts that told me i was wrong. Not doing that is in my eyes intentionally malicious or what people refer to as trolling.
But I really am happy to have witnessed Bleep, even if i havent interacted with them very much. It has been a great exercise to know what content to ignore and report that otherwise looks “fine” on a surface level. So in that regard I thank Bleep.
On any other level, idk how they came to the conclusion/opinions they did, but i am more than curious to read a study on it!

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•We fought to free the nipple… and all we got was a better kind of thirst trap.
4·14 days agoYeah, look at the headings, terribly obvious IMO. Theres also just something weird with the article content wise. Like, why are we blaming the women again? Because they do sex work? And that is not a fault of the system? Idk, this smells really bad…
Truth be told i stopped reading after just glancing the headings but it feels real bad.
Im curious why you hate watermarks so much? Gaining recognition as an artist by stamping a work as your own is very different than gazillion $ company paying to interrupt your content stream with brainwashing propaganda.
Either this is a very not-thought through opinion or it is a just another attempt to provide more content with attributions removed to train GenAI LLMs.

Technology@lemmy.world•Nvidia "confirms" DLSS 5 relies on 2D frame data as testing reveals hallucinationsEnglish
472·27 days agoDoesnt really matter IMO. If you have known bugs and flaws you dont showcase those, or if they are present in the showcase you atleast adress them and show what is to be expected upon release. NVIDIA just flat out didnt care. As soon as motion increases the artefacting is crazy. How do you even decide that this is remotely good enough for a demo?

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What does DLSS do, and what's up with DLSS 5?
26·27 days agoGood explanation. For a bit more context:
AFAIK DLSS was the first “AI technology” to hit the gaming market when NVIDIA revealed it a few GPU generations back. Unsure if it came with the RTX 2000 series or later but somewhere along those lines. DLSS consisted of 2 major technologies, upscaling and frame generation.
Upscaling uses an AI model to take a lower resolution image (frame) and upscale it to a higher resolution, this cutting the required performance to rendering the frame to begin with. This improves framerate at the cost of bluriness in fast moving scenens and some ghosting artrefacts. This has been improved across the different DLSS versions but the issue still remains, although way less notable.
Frame generation on the other hand generates “fake” frames in between naturally generated frames to improve framerate and produce a more fluid experience. As the model needs extra time to produce this extra frame it also leads to some latency being added resulting in input delay, which is not ideal for fast-paced competitive games.
Both of these technologies affects the visuals of the game somewhat but still retains the original artists vision. Although it does influence the visual quality and brings some side effects such as smearing, ghosting and artefacts.
The new DLSS 5 debacle is a fresh can of worms. While previous DLSS versions have focused on retaining the original image and only improving performance this version now heavily influences the content of whatever is being rendered. The AI now alters the lighting, textures, geometry, etc in the frame and applies the most glorious of AI slop you could imagine, removing any sense of artistic direction and atmosphere from the game.
NVIDIA is attempting to damage control the situation by claiming that developers have full control over what is being touched by the AI model and what isnt. But the reality remains that this does influence the scene content with unpredictable AI generated content, thus simply removing artistic ability and feeling from games.
But we do not need to worry, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang himself has told us that “we are wrong” and that this is simply amazing so as every good citizen under a capitalist technocratic ogligarchy i believe we should just sit bow down and praise DLSS 5 as the godly diety it is. /s

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Am I right to be afraid of germs / is my family disgusting or am I overreacting and this is germaphobia? (read post)
9·30 days agoI can agree with this. The environment is definitely affecting OP in someway, i see the same in their way of writing. I dont think its an unnatural response to this mess theyre living in but i agree they should note this and not make it a habit everywhere else. I can see how it would be very hard to see what is a “normal” level of cleanliness/nastyness if this is how you constantly see your surroundings.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Am I right to be afraid of germs / is my family disgusting or am I overreacting and this is germaphobia? (read post)
9·30 days agoYeah, same here. Sounded germophobic but with the context of the pictures it makes way more sense. In a generally clean and tidy house these things would not be that big of a deal but in this case i think its fair for OP to be disturbed by it. Im not a overly clean person, our apartment gets pretty messy sometimes but never to that degree or to a point where it looks that messy, especially not for prolonged periods of time.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Are you OK with slurs being used in irony or dark humor?
3·1 month agoI feel like usage of slurs are 99% unnecessary. I stopped using slurs in my own jokes when i realized it only normalizes the usage of that slur.
Even if you dont mean anything harmful or “its just a joke” that still normalizes its usage as a degrading term. I mean the sole intention of using that word is because it is degrading/harmful, why else would it be dark humor?
I also just find humor and jokes to be way more creative and funny when you dont use slurs.
I have no problem with the victims of a certain slur using said word since you cant really discriminate yourself the same way others can, hence why using it upon yourself and/or your own group/culture is also common.
For anyone interested theres alot of philosophy and human rights concepts behind this. My partner is currently studying human rights which is where some of these concepts were brought up in way more detail.
As a web developer I simply have to tell you that this clearly superior web design is the only thing I ever implement. You have to understand the maximized convenience this workflow gives the user and the UX implementation for this makes the login experience flawlessly seamless without any hickups. /s
Jokes aside. How the fuck did we even get here?
