1·17 days agoseems like a waste of honey? can you really even taste the honey behind all of those flavors? Can you just use cheap sugar and get basically the same result.

Technology@lemmy.world•A million new SpaceX satellites will destroy the night sky — for everyone on EarthEnglish
432·21 days agoThey might put a million satellites into orbit, but they’re certainly not going to be orbital data centers. At least not as we currently understand data centers. The idea that space is cold and therefore a great place to put data centers that get hot is the idea of a stoned moron talking out of their ass. Space is a vacuum, you know what else is a vacuum, the part of your portable coffee mug that keeps your beverage warm or cold for ages, because vacuum is a crazy good insulator. Just because space is cold doesn’t mean the heat from an orbital data center can dissipate into it. This dumb idea is never going to happen unless data canter technology improves to the point where they aren’t environmental disasters anymore.

Homebrewing - Beer, Mead, Wine, Cider@sopuli.xyz•What are you brewing?English
4·1 month agoI’ve got some pseudo Sahti on tap. It was on nitro but I lent my nitro tank and tap to my FIL who brewed a Guinness clone for St. Paddy’s Day.
For my next brew day I’m planning on a West Coast Pilsner and a fig leaf and chicory Blonde Ale.

3·1 month agoare you really going to get much from brett in secondary in a cider? Apple juice is all simple sugars and primary would have completely dried it out.

1·2 months agoI don’t think it should come as any sort of surprise that people who already have an underlying mental health issue would attempt to self-medicate as a teenager.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a piece of Media that is so underrated you must mention it?
2·2 months agohave you read the books? because the show does not follow them at all.
That said, the show is pretty interesting and incredibly beautiful.
I don’t really care about the environmental impact of aluminum foil, but maybe don’t leave your carboys sitting in the sun?

Linux@lemmy.world•Where is Linux not working well in your daily usage? Share your pain points as of 2026, so we can respectfully discussEnglish
2·3 months agoNot a real big issue, but sometimes (not all the time) when my Ubuntu OS (24.04.3 LTS) puts my desktop to sleep (automatically after 2 hours idle) when I go to wake it up it’s as if I’ve rebooted. All my applications are closed, I have to login etc, but it doesn’t really do a full boot sequence with the option to enter BIOS etc.
Like I said, not a big deal as I’m not (usually) dumb enough to leave unsaved work sitting around, but it is kind of annoying.
ha, I wasn’t concerned about ecological costs of the foil, though I bet you could just put an old shirt over it and have a reusable solution.

3·4 months agoPine can be pretty intense (if it actually was a pine tree). Spruce can also get pretty resiny if you’re using mature branches, this is why most people use the new growth tips. I’ve yet to try Noble Fir, which is what we typically get for our Christmas tree, maybe one of these years.

41·4 months agoWell since people have been eating it for millennia in juniper, and juniper is GRAS, I’m going to conclude that it’s not a concern, you can conclude otherwise if you want. I won’t ask you to drink the beer.
Did you know that hops are toxic to dogs? are you sure you still want to put them into your beer?
