Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why is the US$100 bill the most counterfeited?English
9·10 hours agoIt’s a whole lot easier to carry a lot of money as 100’s then as 20’s.
Plus you get a lot more value for your effort
Terrible company then.
Every enterprise level org I’ve worked for has had strong rules about not engaging after-hours.
They understand of you’re working after hours you’re going to be useless the next day. Consistency is more important.
Meh, the way I look at it they’ve just motivated a LOT of people to move off their services and also jailbreak their devices.
Seems like a good time to acquire old devices too.

239·11 hours agoThis is the perfect example of how government is the least effective way to do most things.
Government lacks the constraints and risk aversion that smaller groups have - after all it can just pass new laws justifying it’s poor choices, and government is largely immune to recrimination or liability.
(Also, fuck this age verification bullshit, of course).
Not sure that’s all that broken, could be by design! 😁
Hahaha, I had the same reaction reading your comment!

It’s what all governments have been trying to do for decades.

3·1 day agoAnd it’s a lot harder to effectively enforce or combine with other services, such as ID, etc, because 50 states.
Fed can only do so much, and it only takes one state fighting it to cause it to fail or at least become bogged down.

Alternatively there are a couple browsers specifically for making a website behave like an app: Hermit and Native Alpha.

Ask UK@feddit.uk•What would happen if the PM enforces an automatic draft register towards British men?English
12·1 day agoKeep in mind this is a database of eligible men - not actual conscription. That would take, literally, an act of Congress.
WWI and WWII exposed a gap in this data, which slowed the process - a time when it was very much needed.
US today military does not want conscripts. They make terrible soldiers.
