I don’t really expect leftists to show the exact amount of empathy for every crisis around the world. Most people focus on issues that matter to them. Leftists are no exception.
My problem is that many assume they are the absolute moral authority. They don’t view their preferences for issues as being biased, just like that of liberals.
Like, it was pretty clear they cared more about Palestine than immigrants. Fair enough. The problem I had was the way they reacted to those who cared more about immigrants than Palestine.
They told immigrants they were crazy for worrying about Trump. They told them “it would have been the same” under a liberal, which goes against a lot of people’s lived experience. And when all else fails, they just blame the democrats for their failures.
I would have respected Uncommitted a lot more if they admitted they took a gamble that failed. Even though I’m against protest voting, I can at least admire that they stood up for what they believed in. They simultaneously want to be trusted with all the power, and use liberals as an eternal scapegoat for any failures.

I was gonna say Ted Cruz has no legal experience. But then I looked it up and found out he actually does. Still stupid though.

If this was any normal election, then I would have supported the protest voters.
The problem was that it wasn’t. Trump is trying to ethnically cleanse Latinos out of America. I knew this was going to happen and I wanted to avoid it.
Immigrants were pleading with protest voters during the election. There are Latinos who protested with them from the beginning that have now gone into hiding. I talked to an immigrant that was begging leftists to care, and they accused them of being for genocide just for wanting their family to survive.
It’s not that I hate leftism. But a lot of leftists are unsafe for POC and women. They are privileged enough to prioritize ideals over safety. I only trust leftists that are intersectional, not those who champion some mythical homogeneous global working class.

To some degree, we shouldn’t come back from this. We now know the corruption in the government runs deep. Go back to our politicians being possibly blackmailed by the Mossad? Would it be better if nothing happened on the surface but still no one truly believed the baby eating cabal of elites existed?
I don’t want suffering. I wish this could have been avoided. But we cannot ignore the existential threat the elites have thrust upon us.

I understand partly what @tropicaldingdong@lemmy.world is trying to say. White men in particular won’t participate in protective voting. It doesn’t matter how much you try to convince them. Some will, but as a demographic, no.
What bugs me the most with leftists like this is they don’t understand how unsafe people feel under Trump. I used to watch Vaush. I thought he was safe. But then he went on a rant on how he “couldn’t understand why people cling to the Democrats.” He doesn’t understand that people cling to them out of fear.
A lot of us want better, but how do they expect us to leave the only thing keeping us somewhat safe, when they don’t even see our fear?

Was it the same poll, or a different one?

Well, that’s scary…

I’m not gonna lie. I also tend to ignore posts using the term “Blue MAGA”, because it was frequently used to harass black and brown people for being scared about Trump.

A lot of people wanted to vote but couldn’t because they were purged off of voter rolls.

Not necessarily. There are Americans moving to Mexico and causing problems there.

For anyone that doesn’t believe, I use articles from Waging Nonviolence. I also follow an expert on nonviolent resistance, Erica Chenoweth, on BlueSky.

What gets me is that Americans are constantly doing stuff. I remember during March of last year people kept going on about how the French burned Tesla cars but Americans were “doing nothing.”
They kept saying this while there was constant vandalism all across the country. Reddit wouldn’t allow posts on the topic, so many didn’t know it was happening.
Even with the vandalism, that isn’t what took down DOGE. The biggest hit was simply the boycott and divestment from Tesla stocks.

Who were your fascists?

Too many older folks think even dumping manure on a state house is “too rude.” The vast majority won’t even agree to murder if they could get away with it.
I remember being so motivated after that disastrous meeting Trump had with Zelenskyy. Where Trump tried to extort him for minerals and broadcast it on Russian State TV.
I worked on the Mayday Movement. I really thought we could make something like Euromaidan. I thought it would be easier to general strike if we lived in an encampment.
It fell though. Not many people came. Then I focused on 50501 instead. I had to keep moving forward doing something.

It’s great for people not experienced in protest. The previous No Kings was the first protest my parents attended.
