You know, I was actually going to ask why short hair on elderly women was so common. I had just assumed it was a remnant of their preferences from when they were younger, but I can definitely see trying to maximize thinned out hair!
lol the clothing colors in panel 1 is fantastic.

5·1 year agoFantastic write up. Reminds me of a post on Hobby Drama.
It’s Morty
My favorite go to sad song nuke is, strangely enough, “Alone Again (Naturally)” by Gilbert O’Sullivan
I was looking for a good source for that (I have heard the same thing) but found this instead which is still helpful.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Apps doing year wrapped gives you a hint on how are you being tracked. There is probably a legal issue in there somewhere like data retention.English
17·1 year agoMy to do list app had a wrapped and I was deeply displeased to see it.
Definitely how I started, and there is definitely something to be said about playing a game where nobody knows what’s going on, as long as everyone understands that’s going to be the state of things and are willing to work together. Whenever something came up we weren’t sure about we’d ALL dive on the rule books, not just the GM.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Whats your favorite desk knick-knack (office toys) or one you know of?English
2·1 year agoI have a gemstone (I forget what kind, it’s a dark purple though) worry stone. It’s just the right shape to rest in my hand and let me rub my thumb over it. I don’t really use it for that often, but on occasion it’s nice to just hold a cool stone, literally and figuratively.
It would have cost you nothing to not share that.

2·1 year agoI was at an airport once and paid to use a massage chair because I was exhausted and wanted a light snooze. When the time ran out the owner asked me to stay as long as I wanted for unlimited time, because of this fact lol
Ah hell, now I want pancakes real bad.

21·1 year agoFandom engages in a lot of anti-user and anti-creator practices. There are mirrors to it that privacy and content respecting, particularly Antifandom and BreezeWiki. If you are interested in making the switch, there are plugins that will automatically redirect you away from Fandom towards one of these mirrors.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a sign that your childhood has ended?English
4·1 year agoA powerful statement in therapy that still hits me when I think about it. “You don’t stop being someone’s child.” (I’ll leave it without context, the context would be too painful and personal, so read that however you want.)

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's something you did once but won't do again?English
2·2 years agoHad a tamer but similar hill near my home growing up. Loved speeding down. It ended in a lot filled with gravel. Fortunately the day I spun out on the gravel lot was coming from a different, slower direction. Developed an extremely bad case of road rash all over one leg. When I realized what might have happened if I’d been taking the hill instead, that I probably would have broken my legs or worse, I stopped going down that hill. Realization of mortality can be like a bucket of ice water sometimes.

4·2 years agoAnother extremely compelling episode, I love these.
Extremely sorry for your loss. What a treasured loved one you got to have. I’m sure he loved you immensely.

Oh hey I was just about to comment that the one time I got morphine in the hospital it absolutely did not make me feel like this. It didn’t feel like anything except “thank god the pain stopped, now I can rest.” But it didn’t make me feel good above my baseline and I was about to wonder if something was wrong with me? Now I just feel lucky.
