My piece of cake? it’s not a lose-lose situation for them, but a win-lose situation. They win safety for children at the cost of freedom and privacy of the rest, and they are convinced this doesn’t hurt the good people. How come they believe such a different thing than the rest of us? It could be that they’re evil and want to stay in power at all costs, but i believe there is a also a huge lobby of companies that can earn money: for them it is a win-win, safety for their children and wealth for mommy and daddy. This is why vocal public protest is so important, because it can act as a counter balance to influencial individuals who whisper in the ears of politicians in private.

I use it am really happy with it, it can’t compete with Google Maps on all areas (planning a trip that requires multiple kinds of public transport is big one for me), but it’s good enough als daily driver, can definitely recommend to anyone wanting to exit big tech.

Usually when a long-time dictator dies he picked a successor. They are not always succesful at continuing the dictatorship but i don’t expect the country to suddenly return to democracy when Lukashenko dies. Would be really really nice though.

Afaik he didn’t leave Fidezs because he didn’t agree with Orbans political views though.

I have no doubt. The political class is standing behind Israel because of things that happened long before most eu citizens were born, people that clearly see what is being done in Gaza, Libanon and the occupied west bank and see a warmonger with imperialistic tendencies commit genocide on religious grounds and do not think that the horrible things that happened to jews in Europe 80 years ago give the Israeli government the right to do the horrible things they are doing.

Japan was protected by allied forces (though mainly US i believe), Israel is under greater threat now than Japan was back then. The people of Israel deserve protection or the ability to defend themselves, but the government should not be allowed offensive capabilities for at least a generation or two.
