If the point of this is that both are equally trustworthy then I agree.

Europe@feddit.org•Germany already told its workers to ditch four-day weeks and work-life balance—now the government wants to cut their pay for calling in sick tooEnglish
2·3 hours agoCertainly better than being burned out and not wanting to live any more. Having been there, I’m happy that the option exists. Even though I’ve had to reduce my living standards a little bit.

World News@lemmy.world•EU to Bet on Electrification to Avert Recurring Energy CrisesEnglish
3·3 days agoNot shortsighted. Carbrained and corrupt. Also, the time to invest in European EV production has passed. China has got that market cornered now. German carmakers squandered any advantage they might have initially held on building bulky, expensive cars that the average person can’t even afford.

Socialism@lemmy.ml•The USSR was the spine of the global working class
3·4 days agoTrue but again, I’m not sure that the average person in the former colonies benefits from this as they should. Being exploited by your fellow countrymen or global corporations instead of a colonial power offers no inherent improvements, after all.

11·4 days agoWow, I’ve never read much theory but it seems I’ve come to the same conclusions as Michael Parenti just by using the old noggin. Thanks for the link.

Socialism@lemmy.ml•The USSR was the spine of the global working class
33·4 days agoYes but not for the reason you think. While the USSR still existed, countries like mine still had to show that they were better than it. That they could offer higher quality of life and that capitalism could be the superior system not just for the elites but the average person as well. That impetus is gone now.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Its illegal in the USA to advocate for the violent overthrow of the government, yet its legal to own and carry weapons that is meant to facilitate such acts of rebellion... 🤔
11·6 days agoJust to bring everyone up to speed, the current interpretation of the 2nd Amendment is that the whole spiel about a militia is basically irrelevant. Source: Supreme Court decision in DC v. Heller (2008).
Love it or hate it, them’s the facts. That said, plenty of other decisions have been overturned at a later date. Like the one that made black people less than equal to whites in Dredd Scott v. Sanford or the endorsement of segregation in Plessy v. Ferguson. So things might change at some point.

Because nobody is stopping them.

True, but also Skullgrid has a point.
