While I agree that corporate lobbyists are a negative overall, the oil, meat, tobacco, alcohol, and gambling world (just to name a few) have been destroying our world by lobbying politicians for decades. This is an issue that is not going away.
If a company wants to lobby for lgbt rights, HIV research, and access to IVF, they are my least hated lobbying group at the moment.
It has been a long time since “fans” of a franchise: Marvel, Star Wars, Star Trek, have actually been fans of the media they complain about constantly.
Negative reactions get a bigger share of views online, and there is an industry of people who make money off claiming that the latest popular thing marks the end of one media franchise or another. Couple this with the increasingly open misogyny and homophobia in a lot of critical reactions, and I start to wonder why these media companies even care what the online reaction is anymore.
Clearly the general audience didn’t buy into the “She-Hulk hates men and is just a rip-off of the wholly original male Hulk” shtick. It was a fun show. It had some moments that didn’t work for me, but then the show wasn’t made explicitly for me.
I get it: teens suck, kids these days have it too easy, snowflake PC blah blah blah.
But if a child has felt it important enough to report to their parents that a teacher is calling them names, then that child is not learning in a safe environment. The child has been told directly by their teacher that they are not viewed as intelligent or capable. That is not conducive to positive learning outcomes, or mental health.
I agree that Bozo is a very light term, and if the relationship between the teacher and student were close, it could be seen as a joke between people with a mutual respect, but we don’t know the state of the relationship here. The teacher could be a complete asshole, and this is the fifth time they have singled out the student in this way.
People here are saying “toughen up!” “The real world won’t be so kind!”, but I would argue that that is a failing of adults in the real world. Why are we teaching kids that the world is terrible and the only way to survive is to become just as bad? I’d rather teach students to value each other’s strengths, and to not accept the hatred and sadness of other people.

I loved the film as a teen, having not read the comics. I absorbed that fucking movie without an ounce of critical self-reflection. Scott was a loser, but in a cool samurai sword way.
The film made me seek out the comics.
I instantly fell out of love with the movie. The comics recognise that Scott is a dropkick. It treats Ramona like a character. It has arcs for the cast that isn’t just “he learns to say I love you”.
The film is visually entertaining, but man it feels shallow by comparison.
Not sure this is the full story.
V is a flawed character and throughout the story he does some despicable things. But he was definitely shaped by the actions of the dystopian fascist government that he lives under, and his actions are in response to people who have committed violence against himself and the people. He is not a good man, but it doesn’t make him the ‘bad guy’ of the story.
I can recognise that his actions are intense, and the things he does to Evey in the film are horrific, but I can’t in good conscience consider him the villain of the film when he stands against a form of fascism that is becoming all too familiar these days.
The game came out.

The devs worked on additional biomes, features, and updates.

The devs decided that it was time to shift focus away from a game that they feel is as complete as it needs to be right now.

The devs have been very open with communication throughout development and after. This feels like fans forming a paradoxical relationship with a development studio and getting butthurt when that relationship isn’t two way.

A lot of parents in the comments here. I do believe that there are some concessions that parents should receive, but there is a noticeable imbalance in the flexibility given to parents and non-parents.
I think that paid parental leave is something that parents should receive over non-parents without question. You are being given that time to recover and raise your infant. In my country, it is even paid by the government to the employer so that they can pay the employee.
The thing that irks me is when parents get priority for leave requests etc because of their kids. My wife and I have missed out on family holidays because our employers have told us that parents get priority for leave during school holidays. Ignoring the fact that our families are travelling in school holidays because there are children in our family.
I have been told by employers that I cannot start an hour early today (in a job that has no client facing role) in order to leave early for an appointment. Yet there are people sending the “out of office for an hour to pick up the kids” message every other day.
If you aren’t at least a little bit anxious and depressed about the state of the world, you haven’t been paying attention.
I also refuse to believe that all the racist, misogynist, bigoted snowflakes out there are living anxiety free, considering how quickly they blow up at the sight of a pronoun.
My <5 year old iPhone could not handle the absolutely braindead “liquid glass” of ios26. The phone overheated regularly. The battery drained twice as fast as expected. And every action on the phone took longer than on previous versions.
It’s also painful on the eyes, and removing the motion and transparency makes the user experience worse somehow.

Huh? Small businesses are the ones that predominantly use FB to replace traditional websites. If you want to support local business, chances are they are using a free Facebook page rather than paying for web hosting.
Gladys’s Artisanal Buttplugs is owned by a 60 year old who doesn’t know the first thing about running a website, but she has used Facebook to send spam to her grandkids for years. If I want to avoid giving my money to Big Plugtm, FB may be my only way to contact local creators.
I get the disdain for FB, I really do, but pretending that there aren’t people being held hostage by the system is a bit silly. This thread was about someone trying to untangle themselves from FB, and you’ve turned it into a moral argument, as if they don’t agree with your assessment of social media anyway.

Many businesses forgo websites and put their contacts, opening hours, menus, and updates on a dedicated Facebook page. Is that small business open on Sundays? Google says yes, but Facebook has a post from the owner about their dog dying so the store is closed for the week.
I am part of several social groups that communicate entirely through Facebook. There is no way to get updates out to all members outside of the dedicated group pages. A venue change a few months back caused chaos because some people didn’t check the Facebook group in the week leading up to the event.
I too want to leave Facebook, and have stripped my use down to these minor use cases. But getting rid of it completely at this point cuts me off from some of my only positive mental health activities.
There is no way the prices are dropping. When the price of fuel tipped over $1/L here, it just became the new baseline. The base price now is $2.20/L, and even if the price of oil in general drops, I can not fathom businesses going below that new baseline once people become accustomed to the cost.

I don’t like Ben Shapiro, and wouldn’t pay a dime for his streaming service. But pirating Chip Chilla to show to my kids still gives him a say in how me and my family view the world.
