I was never great at history, but I seem to recall Alexander Hamilton being a big supporter of capitalism.

At least apologists, yeah. The amount of people who I’ve seen say “Yeah, the Epstein files are concerning, but…” has killed any hope I had that they might come around someday. Instead I’m all in for getting kids into politics early enough for them to form their own opinions instead of those of their parents.
I wake up at 5 for my workout simply because I’m a morning person, and I like getting it out of the way first thing. It’s also a nice, calm time, which helps me rest more effectively between reps. Plus I’m still half asleep when I start, so I skip over the feelings of “I don’t want to do this,” since I’m already doing it by the time I’m awake enough to have those thoughts.
Yeah, I read that rule and was worried those would have to stop. I’ve enjoyed the ones I’ve seen so far, and would like to see similar posts be allowed to continue.

It’s certainly the place that needs the message the most, though the chances anyone would listen is virtually zero.

Yeah, we like to glorify individuals, but just about every big endeavor, both good and bad, comes from people working together. An organization like Epstein’s Island was big enough that it definitely had more people running it than just the 2 big players we know about. Someone from upper management seized the reins and has things running smoothly again by now, I’m sure. We shouldn’t be acting like things have been halted - there’s still a lot of work to be done to save the victims of the wealthy.
Well, yes, if third party was already a large enough community to even come close to rivaling the 2 established parties, people would be more likely to view it as an acceptable alternative, but that’s putting the cart before the horse - it requires success to have already been achieved in order to start seeing success. We would need to find a way to get people to convert without having an established community, because that’s how we would start building a community.
Sure, we’ve got over a million people who vote 3rd party in presidential elections, but that’s a tiny number when you’re spreading that group out across the entire US. I’m literally the only person I know in real life who thinks the Democratic party isn’t acceptably politically left, and I know a good amount of people - there simply isn’t a community for 3rd party in my social circle, and I’m in a blue state.
I’m tired of the whole “if a bunch of people suddenly start caring, we’ll change the world!” I just don’t believe that such a scenario will ever happen. People don’t just start caring out of the blue; we need to find a way of forcing real, observable change with only the numbers we already have right now. People will start to join in once that happens, but I just don’t have a clue how that can be done, or if it’s even possible.
You act like there’s a way to get a republican to not vote republican. Hell, I don’t even know if there’s a way to get most democrats to not vote democrat. People don’t like having to think about a choice they already made. They’ve got their favorite political sports team, and they’ll wear those colors until they die.
Even my father in law, who is one of the most politically left people I know in real life, and has a degree in political science, thinks that anything more left than Obama is too far left. I’ve been trying to get him to admit that Bernie would be a better president than Obama for over 8 years now. If I can’t even change his mind, what chance to I have to change the minds of people who honestly think Trump is a viable choice?
Just grabbed a couple albums from the Tejon Street Corner Thieves the other day - good stuff! I’ll have to give those other bands a listen as well!
They’re probably self-deprecating to the point where they see her trying to help and feel inadequate for not being able to do the same. They understand that she has the resources to do so and they don’t, but those feelings of inadequacy still don’t go away, so they just want her to be gone so that they don’t have to feel that way anymore.
I see that line of thinking all the time in people who have internalized the American propaganda of “work hard and you’ll find success.” They can’t process the fact that they’re working as hard as they can without achieving success, so they rebel against the idea of success itself regardless of how its used, because they see that as easier to topple than the broken system that causes the issue in the first place.
They’re in such distress that they no longer care about whether we’re moving forward or backward as a society, so long as they feel a bit better right now. It’s exactly where the elite want us to be.

It felt like they were trying to pack so much symbolism in that it all got too convoluted, and I rarely understood what exactly was going on. I could tell that they were trying to say something profound, but it felt like an artist trying to make a realistic painting with fingerpaint - the medium just didn’t suit the message. But maybe it was just over my head.

People really underutilize their toes. I’m anything but flexible, but I use my toes to grab small or squishy stuff like this all the time. I can even open a door with my foot if I’m carrying stuff with both hands while barefoot, though it took a lot of practice and still comes with a chance to fall.
You can always focus more on fat for a more meal-adjacent baked good. I took my cinnamon roll recipe and turned it into a dill bread cheesy roll with sour cream filling, and it worked great! Terrible for you, but delicious.
Never understood this. I dick around while baking all the time. I pretty much never follow the recipe, and just throw whatever in in whatever amount I feel like. Sometimes things get weird, but usually it turns out alright with just a bit of extra flour or water to get the consistency right.
Cooking on the other hand… As far as I can tell, meat goes from raw to tough as nails in about 3 seconds.

Not really. I know some people that regret it because prices are high. 0 self reflection on their part, I can assure you.

Those in power don’t use religion to determine how they should act, they use it to explain why others should act how they want them to.

People think “free” means “I can do whatever I want,” but really it usually means “people with more power than me can do whatever they want to me.”
Really heartwarming to see us go back to our roots. I honestly thought the system had managed to breed it out of us.
