Python 2 to 3 was painful for large codebases, but it was the right call. The unicode handling alone made porting worth it for anything touching internationalization. Companies that dragged their feet just accumulated technical debt that became harder to shift later. What made your codebase the hardest to migrate?
Five different interfaces for the same instance feels excessive. Photon, Voyager, Alexandrite are worth keeping but mlmym and old.lemdro.id are just bloat for a small instance. What is the actual user base on lemdro.id right now?

The claim of active work with subreddit moderators on their Fediverse transition deserves more scrutiny than a single line in a welcome post. Plenty of instances have announced similar partnerships that never materialized. Is there any public record of what that coordination actually looks like, or is it still early-stage hope dressed up as progress?
Fediverse Community Search isn’t working anymore, because feddit.de doesn’t exist anymore. Maybe link to Lemmyverse instead?
What happened to feddit.de?
Several things:
- The original admin has disappeared.
- The co-admin lost access to the server by misplacing the SSH key.
- Since nothing was updated, everything broke one after the other (first pict-rs, then lemmy-ui)
- After a few discussions, it was decided to set up a new server under feddit.org with the help of the austrian fediverse.foundation
- Since nobody took care of the DNS entries, they expired and feddit.de is history.
Interesting. Thanks for the recap!

Thanks! I actually meant to remove the section altogether since folks likely have their preferred tools by now.
