Paper recycling unfortunately makes the problem worse than just sequestering the carbon in a landfill. :(

2·1 month agoIt’s sad that people who don’t know what it’s like will probably disagree with you, and to be honest I do not have a entirely better solution as it feels like it requires positive intent not specific stipulations (Russia and North Korea for example take it to the other side of the extreme). The width and depth of the human experience remains one of it’s worst characteristics. 🫠

4·1 month agoThat’s literally how any update on a computer ever will work. Real downsides worth mentioning would be like “you’ll be unbootable, you can’t rollback, it’ll update a bunch of other packages, it might delete user home”. Having to select an old entry in your grub config at boot because the new kernel doesn’t play nice with any number of custom peripherals or packages on your system is not what I would consider a serious downside and you’d have to do it if Kubuntu decided to roll a kernel update anyway. Do you uh, use linux?

3·1 month agoHave you tried moving to a newer kernel? It should be working with Nvidia latest and KDE latest (Mine is solid on CachyOS) so it could be a kernel bug for you. No real downside to installing a newer one; but depending on your setup there could be a few regressions that might force you back to stable.
The technology to disguise a robot as an insect currently exists. Do you give thought and inspection to every fly that passes by?

😤 I’m upset I never thought about it this way till now.
I don’t know if it’s on the icon, I believe you have to use the cli “tailscale status” to view your tailnet nodes connection types
Is it possible you misconfigured your tailnet and instead of using a direct connection to your local subnet router you were using an ethereal port via a DERP relay? You can read into it more on tailscales documentation, but essentially you need to leave UPD inbound port 41641 open to your subnet router inbound from WAN.
Tailscale, headscale, or something along those lines may help optimize the route but as others have said to resolve this is an actual fashion you’d need a cdn which requires significant geo-redundant hardware which comes at a pretty significant cost. That being said I think your friend has a good shot if you implement the former.
Even in the future technology disappoints.

1·8 months agoThat assumes the dealer or owner lets you. Granted that’s enough for me to walk away from the sale, but generally I’ve not had a good track record with dealers letting me pull battery health figures as it’s beyond what they understand (dealership training is very very poor) so it scares them. Owners generally are happy to provide me a print out.
And definitely!

23·8 months agoYep. It’s like all of his supporters remembered the first term as some mass fucking hallucination. I had entire groups of my family removeding his entire term only to blame everything they were removeding about on Biden within the first year of his term, refusing to acknowledge the things his administration did fix, and then blaming implementations that Trump 1.0 did on Biden saying Trump 2.0 would fix them. I thought the 2017 tax law passage couldn’t be more obvious that it would cause issues due to dump, but all the gpo had to do was apply a time delay to it and suddenly all the “against” votes and dissent democrats did cast fell away to “Damn Biden raising my damn taxes. Feels like I can’t afford anything due to inflation!” And it’s like bro… We had a global pandemic that was so so much worse than it needed to be on our home front because Dump specifically cut the departments responsible for mitigating it before it occurred… Like how fucking stupid are people on average? Are we all just living with memory of only the past few months or what?
Honestly every networking company that couldn’t be bothered to ship with randomized creds physically embedded/etched somewhere on the device should’ve probably went out of business. The cost has always been minimal and the increased security value has always been readily apparent.

2·8 months agoMy reponse has always been “If that’s the case, why make it appear as though it’s suffering to us?” And they usually respond with some level of “it’s a test”. Personally I think it’s just a wild set of mental loopholes they engage with to justify not feeling any guilt or reverance for the creatures they are consuming but I genuinely don’t know.
Sure, but care or not they can both certainly influence development on your favorite IP. Having the knowledge to be able to exploit this exploitive practice is not the same as supporting it or agreeing with its existence, just simple acknowledgement of your ability to influence outcomes of which in this case I’d suggest picking the one that is forever in your own personal favor.
