Yeah, y’know when you’ve tried to fix your car like 30 times, and you’re staring down another $2k repair on a car worth half that… at some point I would start throwing duct tape on the thing and scrap it when I can hopefully get a better car. Unions were always the compromise. We’ve watched as corporations fight tooth and nail against unions, even closing locations and laying people off to quash them. Our union protections in the US are pathetically weak, especially with the current regime.

Workers used to get beaten and threatened when they tried to advocate for better conditions. Eventually workers would start burning down their workplaces like this guy. In extreme cases they would kill the factory owner or foreman. If the conditions are unbearable and voices aren’t being heard, people will get desperate and do unthinkable things.

For their sake, let’s hope the business and corporate types remember this before the bread or circuses run out.

Am I the only one who thinks that tattoos are avocado toast is for wealthy or semi wealthy people? Why not use that money in a CD, Volunteering, or Donations? Kind of feels a bit selfish?

Don’t get me wrong tattoos are avocado toast is great I have seen very neat ones. But I have also seen people who can barely afford anything or just down on their luck get avocado toast a tattoo? Where are the priorities at?

One can learn about other genders too? The difference is when someone refuses to learn French they don’t then turn around and say “that language doesn’t exist, you’re just crazy” because of their lack of understanding. But a gender identity that doesn’t fit in “man”, “woman”, or “nonbinary” gets treated that way even within the trans community.

Just to be clear, I agree about educating people about gender.

You absolutely deserve connection with others, we all do. There’s an expectation that you and I have that really hurts us and makes that hard to accept though. I wish I had more concrete or resonating advice to give. Honestly it was a lot of therapy and work just to get to where I am.

The best I’ve got is to be more selfish and be okay with the idea that people and relationships are temporary. When a relationship feels like an event and not a forgone conclusion it doesn’t hurt as bad when it ends. It also helped me with grounding myself and reinforcing that my emotions are not always mirrored and are not factual.

Good post, I think OP’s opinion is dangerous and selfish. Ask any kid whose parents would punish them for As instead of A+s, and I’ll show you an adult with self-worth issues deep enough to become a monster. If the only choices are “win and be praised” or “lose and feel deep deep shame”, even perceived competition becomes cutthroat. In my opinion it is still good to celebrate success and effort even if you don’t reach the punultimate goal that very very few are even allowed to reach.
