6·1 month agoYou can detect them with older mobile hotspots with a chip capable of promiscuous mode. Right now mine’s just a canary, a heads up that someone is operating an IMSI catcher nearby, but if ICE is active in your neighborhood having something like that but with more range could be useful for community early warning networks.
2·1 month agoHey, that’s awesome. I hope one day all the energy and brain power currently funneled into surveillance/marketing/control will be applied to problems like this. It’s the kind of common-good problem most engineers would prefer to work on anyway.

lol same (2000s) and over time I’ve heard many variations. Some kids were given “Vernors” which at least had some actual ginger. The rest were at best sugar bribes to hydrate.
