The amount of people who make it through HR hell and interview for my team, that have a some experience but it’s all bounce around 1y and then have an insane amount of certs, that don’t know what they’re doing is way to high in tech. I’ll take a green horn that wants to learn and has a good foundation before I’ll take someone with bounce around experience and a shit load of certs. Almost all certs are how well can you take tests.

3·1 day agoThe 5VZs are stupid reliable if you do the maintenance on them. They’ll basically outlive you lol, I’ve seen people with 500k miles on the stock motors no rebuilds and still daily driving them.

15·2 days agoYep, I find it insane people who buy a new car every few years. Cars don’t just die after 4 or 5 years of use. Most of my Toyotas have 300k miles on them and are early 2000s. They will last way longer than most people assume. Just maintain the damn things.

We need single payer and proper mental health support in this country…not this shit
This is the correct answer. Unless you’re just wanting to learn networking. Blocking outbound on shit that doesn’t need it, and having a dmz if you’re really really wanting to host outside of your environment is the best way. If someone is in your environment, vlans aren’t going to stop them.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Apparently they are actually for birds???
3·7 days agoYep, one my horses sister drown herself in 3 foot of water(shallow pond)…we couldn’t figure out how since we didn’t know her sister and was told the story by the previous owner. That was until we brought her to one of the deeper creeks on the farm…the second the water got to her chest, she would plung her entire face in and try to swim underwater. Come up and be half water logged get some air and do it again. Needless to say that’s how we figured out her sister probably was rolling around in the pond, and literally asphyxiated herself via breathing in water enough that she probably passed out and drown.
I love that horse, but she’s working with two braincells at best.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Apparently they are actually for birds???
3·7 days agoNope %100 makes sense. And horses are definitely the second dumbest creature on the planet. They will try and kill themselves daily. Our vet always said that if a horse wants to kill itself, it’ll find a way even in circular padded room. And we have a few that on a daily will try to do shit that makes you think how they’re still alive.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Apparently they are actually for birds???
3·7 days agoYea, I mean I’m not saying that to be mean. As I genuinely like the birds. They will talk to you when you get near them in the barns and the two we raised are still hanging out on the farm even years after we released them.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Apparently they are actually for birds???
10·8 days agoPigeons are really dumb birds, how they have survived as a species is a mystery to me. We have a few pairs on the farm that have had babies and out of the 6-8 that have made it to maturity, 2 of them we had to rescue cause they just jumped out of the nest and couldn’t fly yet. We’d put them back in the nest for a few days and then just give up and raise them in the aviary until they were fully grown and then release them. Awesome birds as pets, but dumb as a box of rocks in the wild.

There is a reason both of these companies keep pushing back their IPO… gotta cook the books more to make it seem like they’re what they claim to be worth.

News@lemmy.world•Supreme court justices appear skeptical of move to end birthright citizenship as Trump attends arguments
2·12 days agoI quoted the amendment, which I am all in favor of. In fact, I am in favor of well regulated ownership by anyone who can pass a gun safety course. While I am in favor of background checks to reduce the chances of someone buying a gun when they are not eligible due to a violent felony or similar reasons (part of that well regulated thing), I am against tracking those background checks or a gun registry.
The well regulated part means in working order. Not that the government gets to decide who can and cannot own arms.
If you’re ok with that, then you’re ok with the current regime trying to label LGBTQ+ people as a mental illness, so they can deny them the right to bear arms.
That’s why you shouldn’t be ok with it. When a group that’s like the current regime is in power they’re going to try and pull shit like that. Which they did btw and even the NRA(puke) was against it.
My dislike of stupid court rulings that contradict the amendment is based on what is written and putting it on individuals who want to play rambo doesn’t mean I don’t like the basic concept.
But the ruling didn’t contradict the amendment.
Hamilton Federalist paper #28:
If the representatives of the people betray their constituents, there is then no resource left but in the exertion of that original right of self-defense which is paramount to all positive forms of government, and which against the usurpations of the national rulers, may be exerted with infinitely better prospect of success than against those of the rulers of an individual state. In a single state, if the persons intrusted with supreme power become usurpers, the different parcels, subdivisions, or districts of which it consists, having no distinct government in each, can take no regular measures for defense. The citizens must rush tumultuously to arms, without concert, without system, without resource; except in their courage and despair. The usurpers, clothed with the forms of legal authority, can too often crush the opposition in embryo. The smaller the extent of the territory, the more difficult will it be for the people to form a regular or systematic plan of opposition, and the more easy will it be to defeat their early efforts. Intelligence can be more speedily obtained of their preparations and movements, and the military force in the possession of the usurpers can be more rapidly directed against the part where the opposition has begun. In this situation there must be a peculiar coincidence of circumstances to insure success to the popular resistance.
This is what the founders thought of the 2nd amendment. That the government should not be the ones with a monopoly on force.

News@lemmy.world•Supreme court justices appear skeptical of move to end birthright citizenship as Trump attends arguments
2·12 days agoThat’s not how the 2nd is taken at all. The founders had literally just fought and won a war against a tyrannical government using privately owned arms.
Hell even Jefferson’s quote from one of his letters points this out: “the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants” .
Do you think he is saying that people should fight rebellions with pitchforks?
Right now is the time to be getting armed, not trying to disarm us.
