World News@lemmy.world•Hundreds of Irish petrol stations run out of fuel as protests continueEnglish
13·3 days agoThey’re wanting the government to cut the fuel duty to help with the costs. At least that’s what I’ve read of Irish based communities.

Europe@feddit.org•Fuel-price protests cause chaos in Ireland and spread to NorwayEnglish
16·3 days agoHas the Irish government done something specifically to make the fuel-price increases worse? It’s not clear to me from the article what exactly they want.
There’s an incredible documentary on YouTube about Project Mercury, I’d highly recommend watching it you’re into the development of the US Space programme. It’s over 2 hours 30mins, but it’s so well put together.

United Kingdom@feddit.uk•UK flying reaper drones above Lebanon from Cyprus baseEnglish
3·4 days agoWhy wouldn’t Israel have a free spy plane fly for them?
I’m sure Israel can spare a single drone to fly over Lebanon, they don’t need to use anyone else to do that for them.

United Kingdom@feddit.uk•UK flying reaper drones above Lebanon from Cyprus baseEnglish
11·4 days agoThe UK has been criticising Israel for attacking Lebanon though.
Like I said, if Israel wanted recon they can just use their own drones. Seems like people are jumping to the conclusion that we’re gathering intel for Israel rather than collecting our own Intel to get an idea of what’s going on.

United Kingdom@feddit.uk•UK flying reaper drones above Lebanon from Cyprus baseEnglish
10·4 days agoIsrael would use their own drones. Why use the RAF? Seems more likely it’s the UK gathering intel on what Israel is doing.

Ok, so you don’t need a ceasefire, you need to just fucking leave.

United Kingdom@feddit.uk•Car park firm NCP collapses with nearly 700 jobs at riskEnglish
3·28 days agoNot great that people there’s 700 going to be out of a job, but I won’t shed a tear for the company. Their prices were always outrageous.
Cool, and then there’s NEVER any problems with different paths? With back and forward slashes? With the limit on path length? With missing permissions on the file system requiring weird workarounds?
Nope. The language we use handles that for us. I don’t think path length has been an issue for a while now?
Most importantly, your server is likely not Windows, yet you test on Windows, and that’s never ever been a serious source of issues?
We use serverless functions using Linux and it’s never an issue. My previous employer, we had Windows servers and Linux based containers, and that wasn’t an issue either.
I never use Powershell and I use the terminal daily.

It doesn’t mention anything about price gouging though, only that global fuel prices have gone up.
