From Middle TN Raptor Center

This little one came to us from Murfreesboro last night after he was found in a backyard with a Red Tailed Hawk hanging around in close proximity. The homeowner’s dog alerted him to the little one and he was able to save it from the dog and the Red Tail. There was no nest anywhere to be found and no sign of mom or daddy Great Horned Owl.

We are guessing that the Red Tail Hawk had possibly taken the baby out of a nest and dropped it. It does have a chipped beak but that isn’t causing any issues with it eating. This little one doesn’t even have its eyes open yet.
