    Used to be normal for pubs! Wish it still were, I hate having to bring my tankard to the bar and then bring it back home again :-/

      That’s a great looking tankard. Lid required to stop anyone putting the King’s Shilling in it while you’re distracted?

    @mykl I am German and I love this, but I don’t understand what’s so hard about just taking it home with you, and bringing it next time?

      If the tankard has seen a hard evening’s use perhaps carrying it home might be too much of a risk?
