Listing photo of a laboratory jack stand with a nonslip mat on the tabletop. It is a scissor lift and has a knob to move the tabletop up and down.

I am in the USA, so need stuff available here if possible.

I am disabled and am trying to get some sort of lift to help me feed my dog, but small electric scissor lift tables are >$100USD. I have low income so it would suck to spend that.

I found these lab jack stands, it says they can hold 6-7lbs (2.72-3.17 kg), which should be plenty for her meals. And they’re only $15-20USD so much more accessible.

But they use a knob - I was thinking of rigging up some sort of pulley to help turn it. I would be standing or in a wheelchair when using it so it would need to work from that distance to the floor, about 3-4 ft (~1m).

Any thoughts or better ideas are welcome!

Have you considered something more like a crane pulling upwards, instead of the platform pushing downwards? Could ba as simple as a wooden board with rope tied to the 4 corners, just pull up. Wrap the cord around a nail in the wall when not in use. A possible downside could be less stability.

Something like this for cranes, but your arm is the crane: https://images.app.goo.gl/ugZUw8LnsWQ5Kzgg7

I like this idea! That would probably be a lot easier too, even if it may be less stable (I could put some bumpers on it to hold the bowl better)

      Thanks!!
