So… I’ve been using Telegram FOSS way too long without realizing it’s a dead app. I’m now checking Forkgram, but i saw several reports of people getting their accounts limited. Is there any other version worth considering?
Thanks!
While not exactly a fork, but more of an alternative approach, I’m using the Matrix bridge, to bridge my Telegram to my self-hosted Matrix server (along with Discord, WhatsApp and Messenger bridges), so I can just use Element (or any other Matrix client) for all of my chats in one place.
I’ve been using it for more than a year, the setup is really easy thanks to the amazing Matrix Ansible Deploy project, where all you need is to get a hosting (I have Hetzner for 7$ a month), a domain, change like 5 config options (mostly just give it a domain, and enable the bridges you want), give it a SSH key, and it just works and deploys/updates with a single command.
