Explanation (with love to PugJesus)
Luigi Cadorna was the commander of the Italian forces during World War I. He launched a major offensive against Austria-Hungary along the Isonzo (or Soča) River to take Trieste and Ljubljana, which devolved into brutal trench warfare, resulting in twelve battles fought over the course of the war.
Although the Italian army made some gains, they were ultimately repelled by the Central Powers. The Italians sustained very heavy casualties, and the Isonzo became known as a “meat grinder”, with Cadorna receiving criticism for inflexible tactics (as referenced in this meme) and harsh disciplinary actions. But to be fair, the treacherous terrain and the initial organization issues of the Italian army weren’t exactly favorable.
One more Battle of the Isonzo, this one will work
Let’s send MORE MEN, that’ll fix everything!
Fortunately, Austria-Hungarians have a pre-programmed kill limit.

I thought this was a meme about communism at first.
“I don’t distribute wealth, I don’t abolish the state, I lead a revolution to overthrow the government and if that works, I establish a dictatorship”, or something along these lines?
That but also that the twelfth time is the charm.
The hat gives it away.
To be fair I thought it was Petain.
Every time this front is mentioned, I mention the movie “Uomini Contro/Many Wars Ago” about it:
