9·4 days agoFinished Project Hail Mary a few days ago, wanted to get it read before watching the movie tonight. It was such a great read, Rocky was amaze! Started Player One by Douglas Coupland afterwards/now, as I wanted a genre change up, been quite a non-stop thrill when comparing to the length of Project Hail Mary.
On the nonfiction side, reading Metaphors We Live By (by Johnson & Lakoff) currently. Taking it slow as it gets me thinking about experiencing experience itself. Real meta stuff.

2·18 days agoThis is where domain expertise would come in, no? It’s speeding up the work but it usually outputs generic content, and whatever else it injects while hallucinating. Therefore the validation part holds up I’d say.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Coke Canada Bottling terminates worker injured on the job, says keeping him would be too hard on the company
8·19 days agoOn its website, Coca-Cola Canada Bottling Limited describes itself as a “Proudly independent and family-owned” distributor of Coca-Cola products. It operates separately from the Coca-Cola Company.
It employs over 6,000 people nationwide. In January, it opened a $75-million state-of-the-art, AI-enabled facility in Calgary next to the building where Hopkins worked for decades.
Just opened a $75 million facility but you can only give hush money of $2511.20 (how do you arrive at this number even) - piss off

2·19 days agoYou’re welcome! Like others have said, look for a second-hand one or as in my case, if you can find a new one through a private seller. Rather not directly support Google either.

4·19 days agoCan recommend the Pixel, after my 7 pro XL went to shit I’ve picked up a 10 pro w/ GrapheneOS - way better experience.

There’s a lot of interesting perspectives in this thread already. Instead, I’ll add some books that have been recommended to me on the subject:
The AI Mirror by Shannon Vallor - it’s a good brief intro to start with
Empire of AI by Karen Hao - really solid investigative reporting on OpenAI
The AI Con by Emily M. Bender & Alex Hanna
