  • Repeating fungus gnats as the answer. I use a few strategies to manage them:

    • yellow “sticky strips” (can be purchased at garden stores and Amazon) that you stick into the pot. They’re ugly, but the flies love them.
    • dish soap bath for plants that can handle it (the blue Dawn extra strong soap is best).
    • bottom watering, or letting the top of the soil dry out between waterings

Humid environments require lighter watering. You might want to get a soil moisture detector so you can see how moist your soil really is and determine if you need to water.

I think the overall style is fun, but symmetrical eyebrows and lips would make it better (this is meant as constructive criticism)- it makes the image seem a bit ‘off’. You’re work is showing great range, and I appreciate your experimenting with the medium. Keep up the great work!

  • Re: Skincare

Start using a body wash with salicylic acid to manage the body acne. Neutrogena makes a very affordable one.

For facial skin, a gentle cleanser at night (and maybe morning if your skin is oily) followed by a moisturizer. SPF by day to protect your skin. The world of skincare products is filled with exaggerated promises and miracle ingredients - a good cleansing and moisturizing routine is all most people need. It’s important to not overdo skincare, as it can cause chemical burns, increase sensitivity, and make the skin oilier as a response.

If you wear makeup, you must remove it before bed, especially eye makeup. Micellar water (it’s not really water) is good for a general removal, but if you wear a lot of heavy makeup or waterproof makeup, you’ll need an oil-based cleanser for that.

As for what will work specifically for you, you’ll have to find that out by trying things. Start at the drugstore and buy the smallest size you can. If you have an allergic reaction, throw it out immediately. Neutrogena has always performed well for me, and another great drugstore brand is Cerave. Other very affordable brands are The Ordinary and The Inkey List, which can be found at Sephora.

  • Despite good brushing and flossing, I had to get braces at 15 for spacing. My brother had similar but less severe spacing. You are not at any fault- you simply lost what I call the “genetic lottery”.

You might be able to find a program, non-profit or dental college that can provide braces at a reduced price. I also know many of my friends as adults who had success with Invisalign (I don’t know the cost).

Anyone who truly loves or cares about you will not think your teeth are a deal breaker. People’s teeth are not picture perfect or blindingly white without some degree of cosmetic work.

  • Ergo proxy is best described as existentialism depicted in animation. Aside from the first few episodes and the last one, it spends the bulk of the series discussing philosophy of existence and one’s raison d’etre. The point of the show is to get the viewer to question reality and that assigning moral value to existence is pointless. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

I liked the fact it was different and effectively adapted the ideas of existentialism into a palatable format for most people. The cyberpunk aspects add more entertainment value, unlike other literature on the subject (ie: Camus’ The Outsider).
