Lemmy.World Announcements•Newly registered but no email from Lemmy.world? Check junk folder
4·3 years agoSame for fedia.io. Got the email immediately, but it was in the spam folder.

FREEMEDIAHECKYEAH@lemmy.fmhy.ml•So... will I get swatted if I use plex/jellyfin?
3·3 years agoIt can be if you set it up for it, and pay for a Plex Pass. And it would be encrypted and password protected. Randoms wouldn’t be able to access it unless you gave them your login.

9·3 years agoPlex content resides on your PC. You’re not uploading it anywhere. I use Plex for old TV shows. Hosted on my laptop, it streams over Wifi to my Firestick.
Being decentralized is whats going to prevent this whole Fediverse from really taking off. Its a convoluted mess.

Lemmy.World Announcements•If we want this to work out make content do not just lurk
81·3 years agoFirst I need to understand how all this works. fedia, lemmy, mastadon, fediverse, etc. I don’t really understand what it all is and how it works. Suggestions from one user to another from a different “place” don’t translate. Someone told me to look at /all. Like, where is that? I don’t see anything like that. It’s all a confusing, jumbled mess. It’s melting my brain and I don’t know if I can stick around. I don’t see any kind of notifications either, so if someone responds to me, I probably won’t see it unless I remember where I posted and to go manually check.
I have no idea what I am doing and I’m lost. This seems way more complicated than it should be.

I’ll always remember Amy Pond.
