I’ll admit, I would be confused too if my son wanted to change his last name to something seemingly random.

However, you don’t really have a choice. If they are hell bent on changing it, all you will do is alienate them, if you stand in their way. Eventually you’ll become a father and son that never talk.

There’s really only one option. Accept them. You can let them know that you are confused as hell, but that you will love and support them regardless. Anything else is doomed to fail.

The economy has stagnated a lot. Fewer things are being made here, and those things that are, aren’t really improving all that much.

It’s no surprise that the car industry is being obliterated when they think innovation is unnecessary. The government will just bail them out anyway.

My biggest concern is the usual right wing swing when the economy falters. I live rural, and it is awful here politically. There are so many wonderful people… but then the big handful that throw out hate towards Turkish people. I even experienced a Notar throw out the N word like it’s nothing during official proceedings once. I hope things get better.

There are a lot of posts in this thread already detailing positive cases for euthanasia.

My wife worked as a vet tech assistant and she told me once of a case where someone brought their dog in. Diagnosis was terminal, but that the dog was in good condition right now, and would likely not have any discomfort for months. They chose to euthanise immediately. I guess the owner didn’t want to deal with the reminder every day? But that feels wrong to me.

What if you don’t have social media? Do they just accept it at your word?
