Not surprising. Known commodity with improvements plus people have been waiting for ES6 for ages. Also there aren’t a ton of big open world adventure games being released right now that gives the same kind of experience. People want escapism and games like ES and Baldurs Gate are great for that.
It’s interesting my friends kid is 13. A couple of years ago they were able to take a trip across country to visit their online friends that they spend all their time with in games. Those kids are all girls. This life style truly isn’t exclusive to one gender. The father works a 9-5 and the mother is a stay at home mom with some side hustles for extra cash. Their kid seems to be kind but who knows what she is really getting into online. This world is like a caricature of itself.

My theory is getting more engineers familiar with the unified UE5 and Gamebryo. This has likely been in the works before ESVI was the primary focus for the bulk of the team and many of those engineers were reassigned to ESVI as this neared completion.

Optimization profiles for games to target the specific hardware. It would be for people that want a steam deck like device that isn’t portable. Which would probably sell more units than a steam deck now. If priced right I would put it in my living room. It just needs to have the QOL that comes with console for couch gaming.

You underestimate people’s willingness to enjoy slop. Regardless, AI will continue to improve and consume more and more areas of game development. Just like a basic web page can be generated from a prompt a game will be created from the specifications outlined in a game design project plan.
I’m just starting to think humans crave conflict. The larger the population and the more interconnected it gets the more we need larger scale chaos. I’m worried the only solution is to satiate that desire through global war. It’s so depressing to think about.
That’s fair. I bought it because it is the one I played the least and wanted to try and actually beat the story. I’m still in the intro and just picked up my first gear but in that small time frame my assessment is the text is unpolished with grammatical errors, the character creator is still clunky, and their smart animation for dialog needs work. I seriously think this is all just a tech demo for the engineers to get used to the unholy union of unreal and gamebryo so they can use the experience in the work for ES6. I’ll still play this though but I’ll be critical of it the whole way lol
