  • You already got some good writeups so I just want to point out that the 30,000 Iranians dead claim is highly dubious. The evidence genuinely boils down to, “this person said so”. Think for just a second how long it took the official death toll in Gaza to reach 30,000. It took them months to accept that number in Gaza but in Iran it took just a few days. Compare the levels of devestation. Does it really make sense? Consider that the companies telling you these things are owned by people who directly benefit from US imperialism.

To be clear this is copy and pasted but it is critical information about the motivations behind our aggression towards Iran that doesn’t depend on the dubious claim that Russia secretly controls the largest economic and military power of the last century.

To be entirely clear, a large contingent of the US ruling class has been frothing at the mouth to invade Iran for decades. It should not be surprising that it happened and we should not blame our governments aggression on foreigners. That rhetoric is a useful tool to reduce the fury you should rightfully feel towards our rulers.

I favor the theory that it was now or never.

They’ve overused sanctions and have kickstarted dedollarization. For the same reason they kidnapped Maduro, they only had few years before it reached an irreversible tipping point. They had to capture Iran’s oil and monopolize it to keep the petrodollar alive.

    And.

Iran was becoming a harder and harder target to attack militarily, and it had just defeated their attempt at color revolution by demonstrating it could defeat their Starlink operation on the ground. The longer they waited, the more rockets and missiles Iran would have to retaliate against US assets. The post-color revolutionary period was actually the weakest Iran would ever be ever again.

    And.

China is a rising juggernaut, and Iran plays a role in that rise. They’ve signed on to join the Belt and Road initiative, China was key to restoring relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, Iran is a key oil supplier for China, Iran is a member of BRICS, and China has also been investing heavily in Iran’s infrastructure. It wouldn’t be long before the sanctions didn’t even matter anymore because Iran will be able to sell and buy everything it needs without the West.

    And.

Israel is no longer a viable settler project. The promise of Israel was that it would be a walled garden in the wilderness, an imperial core lifestyle with superior fire power and a perfect missile defense system and an omniscient surveillance system. Hamas blew that myth up during the Al Aqsa flood, now Israel isn’t getting new settlers anymore and many settlers are trying to leave. It’s why they’ve had to ban Israelis from flying out of the country. If the Axis of Resistance isn’t destroyed, Israel is finished.

And I’m sure there’s more. Basically, if Iran doesn’t fall within the next few months, the US empire will begin an irreversible decline.

    Buckle up

  • I don’t believe we are going to destroy capitalism. I believe capitalism is going to destroy itself (or most of the world which is kinda the same thing) and we have to prepare and alternative for when that happens. This belief does not come from online message boards it comes from reading innumerable books on political economy and history. The echo chamber is where I go to find like minded people.

You are not bursting my bubble. I have existed in yours most of my life and understand it well. I have made a choice between two world views that I have plenty of experience with and I am satisfied with that choice.

  • They are alright and I wouldn’t mind seeing more people like them in our government. However, we have fundamentally different goals and major disagreements on policy that aren’t exactly reconciliable. I only said it would be nice to feel somewhat represented but I am aware that’s entirely unreasonable given my political agenda stands in direct contradiction to that of the people who run this country.

  • Personally I hoped that the threat would be enough. I hoped if we were all really loud about it the Democratic party would go, “hey I think we might lose this one if we don’t stop murdering thousands of people”. I hoped they would choose winning the election and at least delaying fascism over genocide. They didn’t and it lost them the election. Now we have the beginnings of fascism AND a genocide. Fantastic. Maybe losing the election will motivate them to do better in the next one, if we have one.

Honestly, I’m mostly just shocked they didn’t even try. It’s insane to me that they didn’t even bother lying. They were just that dedicated to genocide. It sucks that Trump made it in to office so soon, it really does but the Democratic party had the opportunity to prevent it and chose not to. I consider them and their donors far more responsible than anyone in this comment section or in any of our actual lives. They have us in such a twist that we are scrapping with eachother over their decisions.
