Because when you’re in a small, scrappy tech startup, everyone is expected to contribute. It is only when the company launches and the founding CEO leaves so that a professional CEO can take over that you would not expect them not to have to code.

They don’t fail upwards. They corner the market. You can get your MBA from Wharton and won’t get a job on Wall Street because those are reserved for the friends and family of people in the upper echelons.

Add to it that the BBA and MBA are basically the most useless degrees ever. Sure you can make a nice spreadsheet but can you do something useful to society?

I have long thought that the Civil War was a mistake. We could have rid ourselves of them a long time ago and really been a progressive country. The South would have quickly collapsed and become part of the third world.

Speaking as someone who is often ashamed to be from the US, I am glad that our global standing is finally dropping like a rock. We have spent a century bullying the rest of the world, but that will not happen anymore. Fortunately, the likely replacements–China and India–seem to be able to think in the longer term and should help create a more stable world.

When people marched in NYC after Stonewall, it was the whole community: LGBTQ. Once the police let off, all of the LGB types abandoned the rest of the community and went back to their well-paying jobs. This author is just like one of these unempathetic sorts.

Yeah. I seriously find it offensive when people post articles that nobody can read. WSJ and Economist are other such examples.

I’m into my second professional job and I feel like I’m working in highschool projects where no one actually does any work.

In my experience, most people never develop much past their high school years. They are just sort of stuck as the person they were when they turned 16 or 17. the fact that you are asking these questions means that you are capable of growth. I always recommend getting through college and getting a masters if you can just so that you can work around people who have developed further.
