I like watching it in action. I don’t know what the hell is going on, but it gives me a strange kind of peace, and if you stare at it long enough, you trick yourself into thinking that it makes some kind of sense.
Maybe they were unable to iterate past smartphones due to a six second —

Well; he’s right.
Buy good enough hardware and play some old music and it sounds old.
On plateau tier stuff, you just hear whatever it is. Including if the mastering was crap.

I remember reading something that they don’t feel fear/danger/consequences and empathy in the same way as the average person, and this includes cases like Naomi; if she had fallen unconscious and/or died, the dude probably wouldn’t have even doubled back to check
Sucks to hear this. Never go on dangerous trips with people who you don’t trust with your life, because it might really be the case.

Comic Strips@lemmy.world•Meta & YouTube on trial for social media addiction
21·17 days agoI think there’s a tangible difference between entertaining and addicting, with a detriment to the consumer.
If you think about something like slot machines, and gambling addiction, many people are addicted, losing money, and can’t stop:
Arguably, addiction is bad and should be regulated (see: cigarettes).
The detriment instead of money (in this particular case) was teens’ mental health, and from what I can recall, the algorithm was explicitly predatory and would serve them up advertisements for things when it detected low or turbulent emotional states, encouraging them to keep using the application and feeling shitty about themselves.
Meta was given a slap on the wrist, it’s a fine of $300M ($0.3B) on a company sitting on $217.24 billion.
I doubt they’ll change their behavior but legal outcomes are about setting precedents.
I’m surprised to see this truth known on the Internet, I guess Lemmy actually is smarter than most other social media out there :o

The helmet would have to be significantly larger and most likely articulated to handle the shape of the triangular ears.

Yep. The rare Lemmite who understands.
Our whole civilization currently depends upon fossil fuels, and the faster we can decouple from that and invent new technology and ways of living, the better off we’ll be
I recommend Solarpunk.
