Canada@lemmy.ca•Can Alberta Keep Foreign Meddling Out of Its Secession Vote?
19·1 day agoAlmost certainly no, but that’s a feature, not a bug.
Taken per capita, probably LaVey. Taken as “Total harm done” it’s Jesus, no contest
Didn’t they use Cowpox instead of smallpox? The virus is similar enough to trigger the correct immune response, but significantly less deadly

politics @lemmy.world•Viktor Orbán concedes defeat as Hungary's Tisza Party heads for election win
10·2 days agoI don’t think Orbán thought he was going to lose by a 2/3 margin. It’s a lot easier to argue shenanigans in a closer race
You know, except for all the shit she did wrong

Games@lemmy.world•I can now save my game in Pokemon Yellow again after 25 years.English
16·2 days agoIt’s a useful skill to know, and it’s not super hard to learn. It just takes some practice.
As long as you have some common sense(eg: dont set the iron down on something flammable) you shouldn’t need to worry about fires.

Games@lemmy.world•I can now save my game in Pokemon Yellow again after 25 years.English
122·2 days agoYour solder joints don’t actually look that bad. Ive seen much worse; and “works” is the gold standard anyway. You’re probably the only one that will see the board in person.
If you want advice, it looks like your iron was either too cold, or you didn’t work fast enough and your flux burned up before the joint set.
Warriors hold their swords in all sorts of interesting ways, historically

World News@lemmy.world•"Nonsurvivable": Today's heatwaves have surpassed our bodies' ability to stay coolEnglish
221·4 days agoFucking obviously the elderly are going to handle this worse, they handle everything worse.
Maybe there’s decent science somewhere, but this article is garbage
Science doesn’t care about obvious, it cares about provable fact.

Games@lemmy.world•It seems that Valve is working on a "SteamGPT" feature that will apparently deal with Steam support issues and is somehow connected to Trust Score and CS2 anti-cheatEnglish
431·4 days agoOne thing Valve is known for is testing things. They typically make sure technology works before rolling it out everywhere.
I’m willing to bet that they have either solved most of the problems a tool like this has by massively limiting its scope, or it never actually gets past a beta test phase.

Technology@lemmy.world•EFF is Leaving X | Electronic Frontier FoundationEnglish
1111·5 days agoThis is not a contest to be holier than thou. It’s a numbers game.
EFF stayed on Twitter because it has a larger audience and that means a larger portion of people will see their messaging. In fact, I would argue that the people that are still on Twitter are the ones most in need of seeing those messages. The people that care about what Debian is posting are almost certainly already on Mastadon.

Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft Mysteriously Freezes Accounts for VeraCrypt, WireGuard, WindscribeEnglish
2082·6 days ago“Not every ‘WTF micro$oft’ moment is a slam dunk,” he tweeted. “I’ve emailed VeraCrypt personally and we’ll get him unblocked. I’ve already talked to Jason at WireGuard. Not everything is a conspiracy, sometimes it’s literally paperwork.”
Funny how paperwork never really seems to be a problem for any other OS.

Electric Vehicles@slrpnk.net•Used EV prices rise as Australia’s fuel crisis hits: ‘Doesn’t make sense to hold on to a combustion engine’
81·7 days agoThis is just an article stating what most people already know. If you’re already in the market for a new car, it makes sense to buy electric. Also, used electric is proving to be far more viable than people thought as battery health has not really degraded as much as people expected.
It doesn’t make sense to replace a perfectly good gas car with electric for the same common sense reason you pointed out.

politics @lemmy.world•Iran war live: Trump agreed to suspend 'bombing and attack' of Iran for two weeks
181·7 days agoThey’re doing a bunch.
I think they’re mostly testing the waters of public opinion to see how much they can get away with. In addition, they’re manipulating the market with these announcements, so they can make bank through stock trades, and on top of all that, like you say, if Iran escalates, then they can escalate in kind.

You should find a new dealer, dude
Big Bird has a predator’s front facing eyes, and a massive form which must require a lot of calories to run.
Do you think his species is an ambush predator like a puma, a persistence predator like a human, or does he go for volume like an orca?

Man, In Bruges was such a good movie
