Strong agree. If blocking also means they can’t see your posts or comment on it, then that becomes primarily a way for trolls to attack and block anyone who disagrees with them

politics @lemmy.world•‘We lose the midterms’: Republicans worry Iran might have already cost them Congress
2·2 天前It’s never ‘no reason’, getting the votes out is an essential part of being a politician in a democratic country. If voters don’t connect with an otherwise good candidate, blame the politician, not the electorate.II think the campaign was bad and too invisible. She was running on “not Trump” and lacked a positive vision for the country

News@lemmy.world•US has let in 4,499 refugees since October - all but three were South African
17·2 天前125,000 resettled down to 4,500. That’s people admitted, i.e. so-called real refugees who have been found to need and deserve our help. Down to only helping white Afrikaners. Outrageous. Letting innocent immigrants to rot. Wipes his large ass with “bring me your huddled masses”

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why passport holders from "third world" countries require visas for a majority of nations?
2·8 天前Why wouldn’t that logic apply to cities within the same country? You also have areas where people move away and other areas people want to go within a country, and governments just deal with that. It still works. They’re not putting up border checks and stopping people from moving into the municipality
I think the nation state borders being different has to do with nationalism and racism more than economic policy. Borders are fine for delineating jurisdiction, but when used to control where people can go, they are good old tools of oppression
