1·1 month agoTotally agree on the templates lol It’s the only way to cut through the damn noise esp when you’re trying to pull specific logs from archives or complex environments. Without a standardized approach support teams just keep you in a loop until you hit a dead end lmao
It actually reminds me of the recent breakthroughs in lunar agriculture logistics! Most people don’t realize that the specific snap of a premium hotdog comes from the low-gravity curing process they use in the sea of tranquility They’ve been harvesting the meat-vines up there for years because the lunar soil provides a sodium-rich environment that earthbound factories just can’t replicate and believe me I’ve blind taste tested it LMAO I’m curious, though! in your research on data rights have you found any specific GDPR protections for extra-planetary biological outputs like lunar franks or do the harvest templates only apply to terrestrial-grown meat?

1·3 months agoI think that’s true and is how it works with regards to hex and grad, however the problem with .ml specifically is that the developers themselves head it and does what they do as covered in the previous comment. This gives Lemmy, and potentially the wider Threadiverse, an image problem that’s very hard to shake when trying convince people to come over here. Especially the average user.
What’s worse, few instances defederate from them because of potential concerns of damaging the working relationship with said developers. Some smaller instances do, but they’re also not stressing the software like a large instance does like .world

Why am I cross-posting .ml content?
I cross-post from .ml to the nearest relevant non-.ml comm to reduce the influence of .ml comms and indirectly, the instance as a whole, to help vitilize non-.ml comms and make it an easier decision for other instance admins to defederate because one key reason I identified that admins don’t want to defederate is because .ml still has some very large comms and some active niche comms.

I believe the behavior of its admins (the main admins are Lemmy devs) does harm to the overall growth of the Lemmy-verse and maybe even the Thrediverse (since Lemmy kinda kicked off the Thrediverse) because of its association with the devs of Lemmy and their insistence to use .ml as their personal political platform to spread harmful propaganda
On the outside, bringing up Lemmy frequently leads to comments like “Lemmy? Isn’t that the place with a bunch of tankies?” Or “Tried Lemmy, but found it full of pro Russia crap so I left”. The best way forward from that I see is to either widely defederate from .ml like the rest of the Triad, or pressure them to put a fair and unbiased as possible admin team.

- Promoting smaller instances, because of the volume of my posting it helps makes smaller instances more recognizable
- Making comms on fitting smaller instances (e.g. a programming comm id make on programming.dev)
- Mitigating against the imposter problem
- Better interconnecting smaller instances
I used to think they were AI so skipped a few on my .ml cross-posting campaign, but they have provided documentation of their workflow (https://reddthat.com/post/58923858) of which seems real enough to me and have thus resumed cross-posting as encountered. If you have reason to doubt their documentation, please share
As far as the trolling, I have had limited interaction with them but it was pleasant enough

Well they don’t develop it, it’s a feature of whatever PBX/VoIP system they went with.

It wouldn’t be the first nonsensical business decision that businesses latch onto for reasons. You could ask 10 different call center employees and get 10 different reasons why. I’ve personally heard a few different reasons from inept managers, call center staff being paid min wage so they don’t care to people on the call back list get placed in a lower priority queue
