Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a band or musician that you found out too late that they were actually really awesome?English
1·2 days agoAlright. So I’m going through these now.
HIM - I tried to find a song from HIM this time while suppressing my premonitions, but I just couldn’t. There are just so many songs about love, partners, etc. and that doesn’t apply to me right now.
The Crown - I can see myself getting into them the rest of the year, for sure. I enjoyed Gone to Hell and Death Explosion from them (so far.)
The Haunted - I liked All Against All. I’ll be checking out there stuff a bit more, but later.
Dimmu Borgir - I already knew about them. They are a ‘nasty’ band. Hahaha. Puritania is by far my favorite song from them.
Metallica and CKY I’ve heard and like some of their songs. Metallica more so.
Foreign Objects - I’m digging their Galactic Prey album. For sure gonna come back to this one.
Meshuggah - They have a cool sound, but I just can’t find myself liking their songs.
Mattias “I.A.” Eklundh - Minor Swing through me for a loop haha. I like that one. Same with New Air.
Opeth - IDK… I think it’s a bit too moody for my liking.
Finntroll - It’s alright to me. Wish I could understand their lyrics ha.
Children of Bodom - That’s my shit! 👍 I seem to like Melodic Death Metal music quite a bit. Power Metal is fun too.
Sonata Arctica - I could see myself enjoying some of their music. But I think I’m currently in a ‘heavy hitting’ phase musically. Symphonic metal is pretty cool. My introduction to it was Nightwish’s Wishmaster album.
Animals as Leaders - I had a few friends years ago that were really into them. I think they have some interesting sounds, but sometimes, math metal can be too much for me.
Lamb of God - I’ve definitely heard of them and heard a few of their songs. Yeah IDK man. For whatever reason, I can’t find a song that I like enough to add to my Spotify. I might come back to them later for a deeper dive.
Tesseract - Not feeling it.
Textures - Not feeling it.
The Ocean - I liked Holocene.
The Omnific - Turns out, I liked their Objects de Vertu song some time ago. I liked Outback Overdrive. They feel like a band I would enjoy diving deeper into.
Dissection - Pretty good.
Amon Amarth - Of course, I’ve heard of them and like their song Twilight Of The Thunder God hahaha. I’ve been meaning to come back to them and hear more of their stuff. Liked Shield Wall.
Linkin Park - Really dude?! LOL! I wasn’t born yesterday! I like their stuff. Mostly their earlier stuff as well.
And now I feel like Frodo.
(Now I’m gonna music suggest wall you bro! Sheesh. Haha)

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it weird that I’m a tattoo artist but I still get nervous before my own sessions?English
8·2 days ago(Not a tattoo artist or person with tattoos yet.) I don’t think it’s weird. I believe there are reasons why you feel that way. One in particular might be, that you know how you want the tattoo you chose to turn out. If it doesn’t turn out or come together like you had hoped, how would you handle the situation? I myself would have a hard time telling someone that it didn’t come out right. Especially if it was a tattoo. So maybe it’s more than just the pain you’re thinking about.

2·4 days agoI’m glad to hear that you enjoyed some of the shared songs.
Venjent… what if I told you I was like one of the top 0.01 % listeners of Venjent in 2025, I think.
My goodness dude! Hahaha That’s is some serious dedication! =p
Equilibrium is one of favorite folk metal bands to date. Sunlounger is growing to become my go to artist, when I need to chill out. Venjent is a really interesting artist. I love his ability to utilize sounds from anything and apply them into a music format.
As for your list, HOLY SHIITAKE! You seem to have the metal music corner of music well covered. lol I’ve heard 12 of those listed and know I like, Dimmu Borgir, Metallica, CKY, Children of Bodom, Amon Amarth and (of course) Linkin Park. I’ll check out the rest over the next several days.
Bro there are so many good bands, I have about 1700+ bands that I follow on Spotify. (Quite overwhelming at times, actually.)
ROFL! I can totally understand the overwhelming sense you would get. This is why I only follow a 30 or so bands on Spotify.
If you’re looking for more chill music/song suggestions, I would suggestion:

Map Enthusiasts@sopuli.xyz•Alternative locations for a "Jewish Nation" - 1945English
4·6 days agoI see your point. But I believe there would have been a good chance of it turning out like the U.S. when they finally did away with slavery. (Yes, I know different forms of slavery were drafted and implemented before it was outlawed. However, the sure count of people that were in slavery of any kind in the U.S., greatly decreased the decade following. It’s still morally wrong. But that’s a reality the U.S. and other countries lived and breathed back then.) I would worry that some form of Jim Crow laws would come about, after more Jewish people returned. (This does have me interested in learning more about how the Jewish people were treated over a decade, after the Nazi party fell in Germany. If anyone can point me in the right ‘direction,’ it would be much appreciated.) I’m not a historian, nor Israel expert. But I am a person wanting to learn more about the world’s accurate history.

3·8 days ago(Thanks for commenting.)
I too wasn’t convinced that the QA practice for liquid volume dispensing was very accurate. Especially for a medical device that deals with critical dose measurements.
But I did see this as a great step forward as a ‘open(?)’ source project. There’s room for improvement and I figure there’s someone out in the world that has found or will find, a way to improve the dispensing measurement accuracy.
And just a bit of info to go off of, I checked out his channel and found that this and the video before this published video are the only ones with over 100k views. So he’s definitely in the fine-tuning phase of his content and channel. I hope to see more of his projects in the future.
Hahahaha. I wouldn’t do that.

Casual Conversation@piefed.social•It's Saturday, what have you watched this week?English
1·9 days agoI finished watching season 1 of Star Trek: Discovery earlier this week. (I’m kinda sorta on a chronological order watching of the Star Trek. Though… there’s so much other things to watch as well… And it hasn’t helped that set a goal of watching 100 movies this year. :Z) Last night I watched episode six of Scavengers Reign. It’s one of my favorite recent pieces of media.

Never the less, thank you for the suggestion.

I thought so too. =)
