I don’t necessarily agree with this stance. Being neurodivergent is not an excuse to 1) be a raging asshole, and 2) flippantly throw baseless accusations around.

If They have enough mental capacity to spin up their own Lemmy instance, then They absolutely have enough mental capacity to understand that being an asshole is…well…a dick move. If one’s neurodivergence is so severe that one cannot withhold themselves from being an asshole, then they cannot be expected to participate in otherwise civil discourse in a reasonable manner and should be removed. They have sufficiently shown that They are incapable of this without frequent intervention.

Yeah, that was my first thought. I’m a Debian user by choice (25+ years experience with it) and largely prefer the “older but extremely stable” package management method they have employed for so long. Same reason I drive Toyotas; they tend to use older-but-proven tech.

This reason is why Debian has the “rock solid” reputation in the first place. It’s baffling that there are people who refuse to accept that fact.

For managing screen time on a per-user basis, timekpr-next is a pretty solid tool. I use it for the “family” PC (old Macbook w/ Linux Mint). We still keep an eye on their usage, of course.

I want an open source alternative to Android Auto. I have no idea where to even start with that, much less have any coding experience, otherwise I’d absolutely try to make my own.

My favorite April Fool’s joke was convincing my then-elementary age kids that they missed April Fool’s Day. Somehow I managed to do this completely deadpan. Them coming home from school and immediately yelling “DAD YOU TRICKED US” was the icing on the cake. They’re teenagers now and still talk about it. Good times.

Recently though, I’ve grown a distaste for AF jokes in general. I fell for two of them within 10 minutes of waking up. One was a youtube creator (miniminuteman’s “Atlantis” episode" that he’s actually been working on for months), and the other was a buddy of mine on a Discord we’re in telling us that he blew his engine in his only vehicle.

To be fair though, in years past I would find a photo of a wrecked vehicle that matched one of mine, same year/make/model/color, and post it on social media captioned with something to the effect of “well that was short-lived” or “luckily it was just me” or whatever. The last time I did it was a few years ago, my wife (then girlfriend at the time) called me within 10 minutes of posting it, clearly panicked, and demanding to know if I was at the hospital 😂 I should have looped her in, in hindsight. But I don’t do it anymore anyway because 1) everyone caught on 😅 and 2) fuck Facebook.
