There is a very long tradition of gradualist reformist socialism, that goes all the way back to the 2nd International.

Omg, that thing you refuse to understand is terrifying!

How Brechtian of you.

Yea but you didn’t consider that we did break our historical inequality record. So we’re winning. Go Canada!

Beyond the right wing fake outrage machine, for anyone wanting to understand the cards system: https://youtu.be/imCT5OA8HIo?t=1754

Oh you’re going to love the new NDP leadership then: https://lewisisleader.ca/ideas
And by the way, Leah Gazan has supported Lewis and his program from the start.

Cool, so let’s tax non-food stuff.

I’m going to say this one hundred percent unironically: this is why we need to be extremely serious about crushing actual antisemism in the west. When for example a western politician is saying the tired cliché that Israel is essential for jewish safety this is a horrendous indictment of their own country.
So protect your local Jewish diaspora community at all costs. Keeping them with us, keeping them from moving to Israel or some shitty West Bank settlement is a kind of very real Palestinian solidarity praxis.

Found the posadist.

The one lesson we should have learned since 2008 is that politics cannot be ignored. This kind of supposed technocratic neoliberalism has failed.
It’s their friends the Phalangists!

Stop holding your noses, and listen to them, otherwise they’ll ally themselves with those that do listen: the fascists. They are hurting economically, they need economic solutions.

You know what else makes everything more expensive? Fucking flood insurance. We’ve had 2-3 “once in 100 year” floods in my area (not a flood plain) in the last 10 years. That’s climate change and it’s already causing increased premiums, decreased of maximums, and costs of renovations and flood proofing. Other areas have other problems, e.g., wildfires, heat domes, etc.
So we can either face the reality that climate change adaptation costs money and come up with a way to make the polluters pay for their externalities, or we can all sell our houses to Aquaman.

Having read Naomi Klein’s Doppelganger, I think for the proto/pre-fascist antivax crowd that’s… acceptable, even desirable, because it means cleaning up the race from weak immune systems.
Oh look, what a coincidence: https://theintercept.com/2026/04/09/democrats-dnc-israel-aipac-resolution/

Fuck that, what we need is a public opinion, like SaskTel, in each province.
For sure! But it has to be done in a way that is lazer focused on making sure no worker is left behind. The Green New Deal (not the Von Der Leyen simulacrum, the Bernie Sanders original) is trying to articulate that idea. The Polanski Greens in the UK and the Lewis NDP in Canada are all about offering this democratic ecosocialist vision forward. Without this leg of the equation, fake green capitalism is just a gift to the far right.
