You can’t beef them up from the top down in the USA. 10% of school funds come from the feds.

Yeah, it’s stupid. I hate it when people ask me question like this. I am not from anywhere, I am from here.

Usually some drunk idiot I meet though insist that I need to tell them the origin country of my great great grandparents. I want to punch them.

a lot of homeschooling ends before secondary school. 6-7% of kids are home schooled for primary school.

only half of them go through high school, only 3% of high schooled are home schooled.

Cool. I’ve met several who went to Harvard, MIT, etc and were extremely successful in life.

a lot of schools are full of yokels. my primary and secondary education were full of yokels. 1/3 of the teacher staff were townies and a lot of them were idiots and drunks.

i never met a smart person until i went to college.

we don’t have national education policy.

education is 90% determined by the town or city you live in. even states have minimal influence over local districts.

schools in the same district, and schools a few kim apart, can have wildly different standards and outcomes.

the only major factor is basically, how wealthy your zipcodes/parents were. that is the overwhelming determination of your educational outcome, because richer parents value education more than non-rich parents.

in poorer communities, education is seen negatively and it’s actively discouraged.

It’s fine.

Homeschooling or not isn’t the issue. Plenty of kids who do go to school have a horrible education. I have known some perfect wonderful home schooled people, and some total weirdo religion nut job home schooled people.

The issue is the parents. And there isn’t much you can do about shitty parents unless you remove the child from the home, which is typically only done under the case of severe neglect or abuse. The state doesn’t and shouldn’t have say about how people conduct their private affairs though and how you raise children is very much a private affair.

Americans value individual choices over collective responsibilities.

Homeschooling her is predominantly for those who fell they are not a part of our mainstream culture or that culture is corrupting. A lot of religious and other minority belief groups practice it.

I don’t use them at all. I dont’ really understand them and I’m fine with that. I have no issue with them being used occasionally either.

I don’t understand people who use them all the time, it’s bizarre. It also regard it as low-effort.

the real world has the same problem, a minority of shitheads who go around trying to ruin it for everyone else because they are so full of themselves. who think everyone who isn’t exactly like them is ‘problematic’.

all you have to do is spend some time in local politics to see how rife so called ‘good’ people are with incredibly toxic and selfish views.

I showed this to my 16 year old nephew and he was legit upset/offended and I had to turn it off.

He was shocked they could say ‘those bad words’ in a movie. I don’t dare show him Pulp Fiction.

huh, that isn’t a hollywood movie, it’s an art film.

plenty of weird art films still get made.

any black-face media has been systematically removed from the internet. you can’t stream any episode of any show that has it. you can typically only watch that content on DVD.

I see the message that anyone who is not rich is a loser. That’s what the problem is. All media characters are aspiring to be rich or they are totally miserable.

There is no respect for the middle class or working class people who are just happy.

I remember when OF was new and people would go around trying to shame people for consuming free porn and bragging how they were such good superior porn consumers and how they were ’supporting young women’.

I notice folks don’t do that anymore.

The best thing I ever did was ignore the advice people gave me and figured out stuff on my own.

Because most advice I got was coming from a completely different universe and totally irrelevant to my own personal situation, and most advice-givers were straight up hypocrites, who were mostly only interested in me thinking they were great, when they were total jerks.

sometimes it’s not the question that is stupid, but the OP and the OPs intent in asking it.

like when they give combative replies or are otherwise mentally ill/incoherent.

or they have a repeated pattern of asking the same thing over and over.
