Tesla hypes stuff up a lot, and that makes you really mad. You don’t even agree with the tech the article is talking about, and Tesla doesn’t use a tech that even YOU don’t fucking agree with.

Tesla doesn’t use a tech that other EV makers don’t use either, and you don’t even like the tech, but Tesla hyped it up once, even tho they made the correct choice in not using it.

My used manual hatchback, cost me $5K used last year, and gets 45mpg. My house was built in 1975. Brother, no way am I gonna pay for any of that stuff you listed.

Costs. EV cars are still too expensive for the average person. Not everyone makes the salary of Lemmy posters.

To buy an EV car, besides the fact they are expensive, most would have to pay for a huge upgrade in their electrical system to update enough to charge at home.

Right now, EV’s are an option for upper-middle class people.

Why single out Tesla for blame when no other US EV maker even tried battery swapping? They all skipped it too. My point is that everyone should be held accountable. Not just Musk, like the user I was replying to, tried to imply.

But you just said you’re not convinced it’s even a worthwhile idea. So what’s the actual problem with it? The Chinese company in the article has been running 4000 stations for eight years and it directly fixes the “sit around waiting for a charge” headache.

Good point. I was excited about EV cars when first announced, but after seeing the costs and hearing so many issues with it, no longer on my radar. My E-scooter and E-bikes are awesome tho!

It’d be great if this took off here in the states. We need cheaper EV’s and more stuff like this. I know most of Lemmy makes $100K a year, but the majority of working class people in the US don’t make that much.

In order for the rest of us to switch over to EV, we need lower pricing and this battery switchup.
