Oh that sounds like it would work pretty well, I'd definitely be interested in hearing how that is if slash when you get around to it.
Hara's art is incredible, I can certainly say that much. From what I've seen of it that the First of the North Star anime I'd say that it has a lot of filler, like I'm pretty sure it takes thirty episodes to get through the first volume and a half of the manga, but it definitely doesn't keep up that pace and I remember it being pretty fun regardless; I really liked the manga and I do definitely want to get back to and finish the anime myself. Ai wo Torimodose is still such a good opening and Kenshirou's voice actor is great; I think everyone loves him since everyone has heard the line. It would be a bit funny if you ended up reading one of Hara's works that wasn't Fist of the North Star first. That should be a fun time when you get to that for sure^^
By the way, I noticed you watched Redline: what did you think of it?

Thank you!! 😄 And haha yeah, with a December deadline I don't blame you for going all-in on the AWC stuff right now. 😂 At least once you get ahead a bit you can hopefully sneak some non-challenge shows back in.

I actually finally finished all my Spring 2026 anime, so I'm officially catching up on Summer now! 😭 It feels good to finally be in the current season again lol.

And I definitely think I'll watch more now that I've graduated! I still have my board exam coming up in September, so studying is taking priority for now, but after that I'll suddenly have way more free time than I've had in years. 😂
Alexanderevealed Aug 23, 7:27 PM
Sorry for the late reply! 😭 Graduation took over for a bit, but I officially graduated last week!! 🎉

You've definitely got a full anime schedule going. 😂 Catching up with Black Clover before it returns is perfect timing though, especially after watching it for that long.

I really need to watch The Summer Hikaru Died too, and Gachiakuta has been on my radar for a while. I've heard good things about both!

I'm actually doing something similar right now—I'm trying to finish off all my remaining Spring 2026 anime before I properly move into Summer. 😭 I got pretty behind with graduation, so I'm slowly cleaning up the backlog now.

And LOL the World Cup inspiring a Captain Tsubasa watch is fitting. 😂 Probably smart to prioritize the AWC first though before adding another potentially huge commitment!
Alexanderevealed Aug 4, 9:40 PM
Haha, called it! 😂 I figured once the World Cup wrapped up you'd suddenly have a lot more free time.

I actually did enjoy it! 😄 I'm not someone who watches soccer year-round, but it's hard *not* to get caught up in the World Cup. The atmosphere and excitement are always so much fun.

And I definitely recommend giving **Witch Hat Atelier** a shot whenever you get the chance. It completely lived up to the hype for me.

As for **Grand Blue**, I actually wasn't sure it'd be my kind of comedy either, but I ended up laughing way more than I expected. 😂 I'd say it's worth trying a few episodes to see if the humor clicks with you.

What have you started watching now that you've got your anime time back? 😄

Thank you!!
Sorry for the late reply again, life has been kind of hectic. Nuzlockeing gen 1 sounds fun, sounds like it'd be pretty unique lol, though I'm not sure I want to try Pokemon Yellow lol.
Ahh shoot, I was still on the fence about getting a Switch 2 since I'm not interested in any exclusive games other than Pokopia, I guess I just won't get one then...

Yeah! I recently finished the sub! 😁

I grew up with the dub, like most people in the West who know the show. It was one of my mom's childhood favourites.

I ended up realling enjoying the sub, and it also increased my appreciation of the dub even further. The sub is very similar in style to the dub: it's heavy on satire, lots of fourth-wall breaking etc. The main difference is that most of the satire in the Japanese original references anime tropes and culture, and most people in the west wouldn't have been familiar with those back in 1992. They did a great job adapting the dub to western culture.

But if you're on MAL, you're a pretty serious anime fan and most of the jokes in the subbed version will land for you. And considering your watch history puts you in the top percentile of anime buffs, you'll DEFINITELY understand the references. 😅

Yup, that would certainly be nice. Yeah I saw, I wonder why someone decided to make a live action Naruto film now of all times, but I think that's a good sign: it should be here to be good rather than a quick advertisement for the manga, so here's hoping.
Digital is probably fine for a lot of people, both in English and Japanese it's really cool how much stuff you can just read officially for free, and that definitely still helps stuff get popular, but it does suck for the people who are a bit more into things. Oh it's not an exclusive deal? That's great news then, but yeah even if it's not someone else doing it, there being some very strong competition should get us more out of Viz as well^^ Oh wow yeah, Keiji has been licensed in English by two publishers and neither of them were Viz, which seems especially strange to me since you would think Viz would want to try the "From the artist behind Fist of the North Star" angle. Hara Tetsuo has a tonne of manga it feels like and I've only read the one, but a lot of them seem super worth checking out and are just unfortunately pretty obscure in English. I know that at least two of them are based on real history, so they're probably right up my alley as well.

Hey! 😄 First off, sorry for the late reply! I've been dealing with a pretty nasty cold the last few days, so I'm finally catching up on all my MAL messages. 😂

And thank you so much!

Haha, I don't blame you at all. 😄 Between the World Cup and the AWC, you've definitely had plenty to keep you busy. I've actually been keeping an eye on some of the World Cup highlights too, even though I'm not usually a huge soccer follower.

As for me, I just finished **Witch Hat Atelier**, and I loved it so much that I immediately picked up the manga afterward. 😂 I also finally watched **Grand Blue**, which absolutely lived up to the hype, and I've been catching up on a few current seasonals whenever I get some free time.

Good luck with the AWC too! 😭 Hopefully you can knock out a bunch of entries while you're catching up with **Baki-dou**.

don't hesitate to give me feedback!!

I did! Thank you :)) <3

Most understandable; hopefully soon indeed.
Ah yeah I can imagine, and they do indeed seem to have quite the selection these days just from looking at library websites trying to get my friend into things^^
I love Gunnm / Alita but I don't think I've ever been interested in the film, so I guess let me know how it is when you get to it then. Ah I see, I might have to give that a look then after I read the manga since I vaguely want to do that; and I suppose the same is true of Sweet Home. Oh yeah I've heard good things about that one too, I can see that manga working really well as a live action series. It's always the moderately popular series that have the good live-action adaptations it feels like.
Choosing to release Kingdom at this point in time feels insane to me, like that's going to take like a decade to fully catch-up so it feels like their audience is going to be entirely new readers rather than people who already like it and don't want to wait that long, which doesn't feel like something they'd want to be doing to me. I feel like that's what happens to every company with such a stranglehold on the market, I'm glad to see it happening though since hopefully this means Viz are forced to improve and we end up with several solid publishers - and Baki and Crows getting a release is really cool, I definitely want to read those one day. I think for Jump specifically they probably are because of licensing, but maybe not. They make so much money with zero risk just publishing whatever's the new Shounen Jump mega-hit so I can't say I'm surprised at their behaviour. Sorry, being a bit cynical here perhaps which is not something I usually do huh.

Haha, thank you! 😄 Togepi has always been one of my favorites.

And no worries at all! I think everyone goes through phases where life gets busy and anime takes a back seat. The nice thing is it'll all still be there whenever you get the urge to binge again. 😂

I've actually been pretty busy myself finishing up my master's degree, but I've still managed to squeeze in some anime here and there. 😭

Hope you get a good binge session in soon! Anything in particular you're planning to start when you jump back in? 😊

Thank chu! ^w^

You're welcome!! And no worries at all, I can understand that!
I've nuzlocked Alpha Sapphire and started ones on HeartGold and Leaf Green as well! I plan to do Emerald too, I feel like it's well-suited for Nuzlockes.
I haven't gotten around to buy ZA and Pokopia, but I definitely plan on doing so. I need to buy a Switch 2 before Pokopia though😅
