Yeah that does sound pretty rad. I wouldn't be surprised if the book got adapted into an anime at some point (maybe by a Chinese studio). I too have read The Last Question and it is certainly a thought provoking short story.
Well i have a sneaking suspicion that you'll enjoy Aegis Rim when you play it seeing as you are a fan of both mecha and Vanillaware :3
Dunbine looks quite cool, but i probably won't add it to my list yet seeing as there's already too much on there for my own liking. Maybe in the future.
Well i certainly like "the long version" of stories better if they provide more context and background. I remember feeling a little lost watching the compilation films so i just assumed that certain things had been omitted that would've helped me understand the story better. The compilation films are quite highly regarded though so it might just be that they cut out a lot of the filler and i'm dumb for getting confused.
I see, that all lines up with what i found out but it's nice to get an experts opinion. Iron Blooded Orphans and 00 look quite interesting to me so i've added them to my high priority list. Speaking of mecha i've been watching this OVA series called Megazone 23 lately, it's basically about this kid who stumbles upon this advanced military motorcycle and then finds out that the city he lives in is actually part of a gigantic spaceship and his whole reality is a lie. It's quite cool because it's basically The Matrix or The Truman Show over a decade before those things existed (even if certain novels did do the fake reality thing way before Megazone, like Philip K Dick). I watched the first episode (which is about 1 hour 20 mins long) and am in the middle of the second episode but have paused it for now since i'm getting a bit tired (and this episode has a different artstyle and the story is kind of throwing me for a loop). I don't know if you've seen it but it's directed by Noboru Ishiguro who directed things like Space Battleship Yamato, Macross and Legend of the Galactic Heroes, so i think you'll like it. It was also a major inspiration for Aegis Rim.

that's how everyone plays lol! there's an unspoken rule of jrpgs where you have to hoard everything for the final boss fight :p yup that was the joke from the first season. i don't know how a frieren game would work story wise lol it can't be anything too significant because as we've seen the past as important as the future.
one punch man's art is incredible, it's insane how good it looks, now if only murata stop inserting his own canon and then meandering it might actually be good again :p frieren was like underground popular back then, a couple youtubers did a video on the manga so if you were into ongoing manga you've would've heard of it in passing. yeah overlord and other smaller successes definitely helped the studio a lot. yup lol it's insane how many 1 season isekai light novel adaptations are out there, i wonder if they are just made out of obligation or do people really think it would be a popular show when it's out.
yeah i also imagine frieren just built fern to be her successor as the slayer so having the basic fundamental spells fully mastered is probably good. i think frieren probably doesn't care about spells like black hole, she probably knows all the cool op magic but doesn't use it. serie might know more than frieren just because she has lived longer and in a period where war was more prominent. yeah it's crazy how 2 of my favorite fantasy series are getting a continuation around the same time :D
yup! i don't think frieren would want to upset frieren considering that never ends well :p imagine if elf debt is generational like they just wait for 100s of years just to ambush that elf who took 10 bucks and make them pay interest.
yeah that stark fight was awesome! it made sense why they were holding back until the final fight :D happy to hear you like season 2! it's definitely more of a bridge season to prepare us for the best arc :D
i know of tatami galaxy, just haven't gotten around to watching it yet, i am very behind on anime :D

it's early if you only look at ranks, but if you look at basically any actually good player in wb around that time they were in diamond earlier than that i think -- it's hard to say because most of the content creators rushed to master/etc really quickly with how much they played


i saw a reddit thread discussing the 12 year thing and it linked to a video of the boss; it reminded me of a game i played called Graze Counter that i thought was pretty tough but i looked online and basically everyone was saying it was way too easy, so i figured i must just be awful at danmaku...


where do i even begin... kokoro is my favorite, and then i'm also a fan of byakuren, sanae, hisami yomotsu (19), youmu, sagume, obligatory reimu, obligatory remilia, obligatory sakuya, hina, letty, reisen to an extent, clownpiece to an extent, hecatia, akyuu, i'm sure there's some others i'm forgetting but that's off the top of my head -- it's mostly just been "oh, i like this character design a lot" after seeing fanart, i don't really know much about most of the characters otherwise...


probably fangames...? i kind of use them interchangeably even though they absolutely aren't interchangeable, i just mean it as "not part of the main series/genre"


wait, when did we start talking about music?? i really enjoyed peacefall and vehemence from them, but it's been a while since i listened to them at all

basically you have like, "rank points" progression which aren't actually related to your competitive ranking, just think of it like a general player-level system with promo matches but you can't actually lose ranks -- it goes from Beginner 3 through Beginner 0, then D3 through D0, etc up to A3 to A0, then AA3 to AA0, then Master; if you play enough you'll just kind of inevitably hit master but basically it took me until i was in B0 to hit diamond group which is the actual mmr-based thing; diamond is the highest one in that game but it's not all that meaningful outside of that. as for puppets, i think they were dogged on by a lot of my friends for being really annoying to play against and having a really basic win condition? it definitely wasn't top tier but it was like, "easy" to use compared to some of the more complicated decks and was quite strong, i think...?


i had a really similar experience actually -- i bought sora when it released and i couldn't beat the first stage on normal and i got frustrated and gave up; but then i got frustrated at myself for giving up and came back later and 100%'d the game just to prove to myself that i'm not a coward...


i actually had to look that up -- i'm definitely nowhere near that level! i'm mostly just afraid of sounding like i'm bragging, i guess... i know there are a lot of people way better than me at almost everything i've ever done, and it does personally get to me when people try to flex stuff to me, so i'm like... tied between being proud of things i worked hard for and not wanting to sound like i'm flexing random nonsense??


it's definitely not a term i hear or use thaaaat often! what little i know of touhou is that i like a lot of the characters, and that i briefly played 19 and then realized it really was not for me and promptly refunded it... i do enjoy some of the spinoff games that get made, though?


i'm not even sure i have a favorite simulation game... i just kind of play a few now and then... i'm a bit strange!

Yeah I just barely watched code geass this year plus all the omakes and picture dramas so it took me a few months to decide to watch it...
I adored The Tatami Galaxy!! I have been thinking about it a lot since I finished it and it truly was great I really recommend it! I honestly really want to rewatch in the future to pick up on things I missed after finishing the finale... I really hope you enjoy it when you watch!!

it's... okay, maybe? i'm not really sure? i didn't get there until i hit B0 so i think it's not all that crazy and i was playing puppets so it was kind of a crutch...


i played a good bit of both, usually with calamity but sometimes just vanilla depending on what my friends wanted to play at the time. the shmup was named Sora! if you don't mind spoilers, i have a video of me doing a nohit on the secret boss' hardest difficulty without using any meter for iframes which was kinda hard for me...! i don't think it's all that impressive to real danmaku players, but i was pretty proud of it! i've not played much of the actual touhou games, but i've played a few spinoffs...


i think cooking simulator is more about the tasks than the food -- it just feels nice having a sandbox environment where there's a clearly defined task list and i can just turn my brain off and perform duties... it's definitely not in my most played or anything, it was just an example of me just kind of playing a whole lot of random stuff when left to my own devices!

specifically things like sv/ygo/hearthstone! the one i played a while ago was shadowverse wb; i managed to get to diamond group and then kind of lost interest because of how extremely competitive it was...


i would consider sts to be a roguelike more than a card game, and at most like a deckbuilder instead..?


i've played a looooooot of terraria, like 3000ish hours or something? i'm not huge on danmaku but i did get reasonably okay at a shmup some years ago just because i liked the characters...


my favorites in the genre are probably barony, dungreed, arguably noita, clone drone in the danger zone, and rabbit hole, but to be honest i kind of just... see random games, "oh this looks fun," try it, it's fun/it isn't fun, i stop playing... i never tried isaac because i get grossed out easily and the art style/general thematics of isaac make me a little sick to my stomach, and i did try risk of rain 1 and 2 but i just couldn't really get into them...


honestly, both? all? like, i'm just as likely to play cooking simulator as i am to play rune factory, i just kind of play random stuff when it strikes my fancy!

i think i play almost any genre outside of rhythm and card games -- i did play a card game semi recently but in general i'm just very bad at them, and i've always been awful at rhythm games so i avoid those... if AAA counts as a genre then i also don't play much of that! but i'm like, a friend-gamer? whatever my friends are playing i'll usually pick up and try, and if i don't like it then i'll go off and play something else on my own. i want to say "oh, i play roguelikes and simulation games!" but that's only true in the sense that they're among the many things that i play, so it feels misleading...


i see; i don't have a lot of experience with agender people so i guess forgive me in advance for my lack of education on the topic -- the closest i've been is that one friend felt he was agender but then quickly decided that wasn't the case and that he was actually transmasc, so i've never really had the opportunity to interact with someone identifying that way for very long. my biggest concerns are always just that i'm afraid my general lack of education will come across as bigoted views in some manner, and it feels awful to think that i may be hurting people in that manner without even knowing... but at the same time, my thought process tends to be "this person identifies in this way? sounds good!" and ends there... which is perhaps a bit too blasé?

it's more like, a passing notice kind of thing -- now and then i'll "shop around" for interesting games and i feel like they're always about a particular protagonist as opposed to a "this is *your* story" kind of deal..? i'm not too sure how much sense that makes!

in general games tend to be more progressive these days which is nice, but i'm too much of a stickler for protagonist customization...

it was the lack of a stated gender on the profile and the fact that i've seen you referred to in multiple ways -- i usually try to go by context to figure out what people prefer, but i wasn't really sure because of the variance... and to be honest i think i'm still not entirely sure... i just want to be sure i'm not being a colossal jerk if it's like, i'm posting after you in a thread where i need to refer to you, and i'm like "they have a goblin in their brain! i have proof!" and then i find out later that you hate being referred to in that way and i feel like a schmuck for not just asking...


if i remember right, all of the work i did for the mod i used was out-of-game and it had like its own mod loader or something...? it's been like 6 years so it's a little hazy...

i can somewhat get this; i have a friend who really loves math, and whenever i've asked him about it he just says that he just really feels most at home when things are solvable and consistent, as opposed to things with open interpretations or vague/changing rules!
