Yeah, that was a Hogan, Hall & Nash reference there with my own swerve at the end 😅 Dated pop culture references & attempts to sound clever (but sounding more like King Kai 😂 ) are pretty par for the course for me. The intent to be encouraging was genuine though 🤗

Think I was pretty clear on my reaction to the first of your pfp updates (🤯😍). Briefly saw another with a cute eyes closed grin which did my heart good 🥰 I think your current one strikes a good balance with a … hopeful(?) smile & the V hand sign. And the kinda messy hair look feels like it suits you (hope that comes across as positive because it’s meant to be). Also the coloring seems to vibe with the approaching Autumn season.

I'm listening to one of the most nostalgic albums, John Tesh: One World. I listened to it all the time in middle school because my mom had the CD. It sounds glorious and combines world music with classical, folk and a bunch of other genres, with influences from around the world and performances from dozens of musicians. I know you're already swamped with life, along with other music, but I'm just gonna drop the link so you can listen whenever you're in the mood for that type of music.

You don't need to compare yours to mine. I have a style that I developed from listening to a lot of rap music growing up actually, believe it or not. It's more of a built-in structure for me at this point but I can diverge every now and then. You should just write whatever you feel like, whether it be from expressing past traumas or current life troubles or even hopes and dreams. Poetry, and writing in general, is an art. And just like other forms of art, it can be made with or without the bounds of structure or rules. And honestly, MAL is the last place anyone is gonna judge our writing hahaha.

I'm relieved I made enough working yesterday to pay bills for awhile.

Here's my newest vinyl, which took six months to arrive. It's darksynth, a synthwave subgenre. It sounds warm, mellow and retro...very different than the digital.

That little device in the corner is an audio interface I've had for a decade. It can do a bunch of things, but now I mostly use it to record vinyl and tapes to digital. (To have a backup of what they sound like on a given turntable and tape deck, though it still doesn't sound as good as directly listening to them.)

Do you know the magician duo Penn & Teller? They were in Borderlands 3 as Pain & Terror! (lmao) Penn himself voiced his character. It was one of the coolest things ever. The rapper Ice-T and YouTuber ProZD (SungWon Cho) also voiced characters in the game.

There’s a difference in being tired after something you feel a personal connection to as opposed to feeling fatigued or stressed over something that’s expected from you or out of a sense of obligation. Oh computers are so wild, that's almost fascinating; like some weird caching issue, or it not opening the link properly and just loading what was already there instead? I was thinking to myself that like, I always triple check everything but I get that not everyone is like me, but it turns out it didn't work even when you checked it?!? Regardless it's not that big of a deal on my end, it's been fun thinking about songs even if they were the wrong ones.
I have like, super mixed thoughts on Dementia; I think the structure of the song could be super cool to use, but at the same time the vocals feel too growly to work, either that or too soft - that's what I thought and had written down like two weeks ago at any rate, listening to it now I think it'd be really good and I don't really know why I thought that about the vocals.
Satellites I like, speaki - so the song hadn't quite finished when I started writing and I think you know what I'm saying here, that caught me off guard lmao. Anyway, speaking of editing I assume you would not be using the full song, well probably with either of these because they're both pretty long, but especially with the softer first few minutes of this one, but I did want to say that I really like the electronic bits at around seven and a half minutes in, that said, as a whole I think I merely like it. Writing this now, I more or less stand by what I had written here for this song, but I do want to add that those heavy riffs after about six minutes in could be really cool to match with some edits.
I just figured writing the names was easier for myself not having to go back and refer to the links to remember which they were, but it turns out it was double useful! No worries^^ I think that does depend on your audience, but yeah varied opinions are definitely good, especially if it's something you could easily get all up in your own head about. I wish I could have at least gotten back to you about this a lot sooner, but I suppose it's been really rough recently for me and I'm not quite sure why, so it's probably not good for me to be apologising for it and so I won't, but that is admittedly my first instinct. I also kind of want to add since I've taken as long as I have, that if you've already decided on something or whatever, then don't worry about it; I still had fun as I said.

Dorohedoro AMV wise, I think "sucks" is a bit harsh but I'd probably be saying worse about my own work so I get it. It is definitely a bit rough, but it's still set to the music pretty well, especially some of the drumbeats about halfway through: I like the transitions on the second beat a lot, and there's a couple of edits I really like; the endless Caimans walking into the restaurant (unless that's actually how it is? I don't think it was though), and the edit at 2:35 as well is really cool. Also I have to say, that red flashing near the end was almost a bit much for me and I'm usually pretty good with that stuff.
