I don’t know, they were pretty much the best you would expect out of a movie based on a game like Mario. They weren’t breaking new cinematic ground, but if that’s what you were looking for in a Mario movie then that seems like a problem with expectations more than the movies themselves.

The EC is a holdover from a time when we thought Senators shouldn’t be directly elected to begin with and only white male land owners should be afforded a vote.

Ignoring the racist and patriarchal solution they came up with, it’s hard to disagree with their conclusion that average people don’t make for a reliable voting population. It seems that 1/3 of the population doesn’t give a shit about anything, 1/3 is certifiably insane, and 1/3 put in a reasonable amount of effort to understand the issues and proposed solutions. Statistically speaking, that makes straight up democracy sound like a terrible idea.

There’s probably a better solution to that particular problem than we’ve tried, but I don’t know how you can address it without creating a system just begging to be abused.

I wholeheartedly disagree that either Trump or a snake oil salesman can be classified as charismatic. Convincing, persuasive, encouraging to idiots, all those seem accurate but charisma implies positive characteristics and they don’t have any.

It’s meaningless semantics in the end but either way I will never use that word to describe Trump.

There’s value to be had in industry experts advising governments. Think about your old ass representative regulating the internet without any advice from people who have actually used the internet. The problem is not that the government converses with industry, it’s that lobbyists bribe politicians under false pretenses. Outlaw the exchange of money, not ideas.

They do pay these debts. That’s exactly what this article is pointing out. We are spending this money on debt rather than something beneficial to citizens. Yes, we print our own money but we still have to pay our debts.
