That was my plan, but since GrapheneOS is based on Google’s Android 16 code I’d expect it to have the same bugs.
Don’t know about hospital costs, but lab costs are cheap and we have blood tests done in Mexico without hesitation. A test might run $9 for the exact same test that is a couple of hundred when done in the US. The $5 doctor visits are for doctors connected to pharmacies and are great for simple things. For anything more complex you’ll need to find another doctor with a regular practice, but even a visit with a specialist was less than $50 a couple of years ago.
I spend lots of time in Mexico and generic drugs are mostly dirt cheap. Name brand drugs that don’t yet have generic equivalents are a different story. They may be 1/3 or less than their U.S. price and affordable for Americans, but hundreds of dollars per month is still out of reach for most Mexicans.
Not surprised Apple’s market share is improving.
I bought a Pixel 10 and Google’s software quality control is laughable. Ridiculously simple things just don’t work properly. For instance Google has broken Bluetooth for some common devices, USB won’t connect at all to some computers, and audio players are killed to save battery even when the phone is plugged in.
Never thought I’d consider an Apple but an Iphone my will be my next purchase.
And giving tax cuts to the wealthiest people on the planet.
“I’m conservative so I can force everyone else to live by my rules. How dare those other conservatives try to do the same thing to me!”
The stupidity of these people is fucking painful.
I’ve had occasional problems with z-wave devices that stop responding. The fix has required power cycling them at the breaker box, then re-interviewing and rebuilding routes. Hope that works in your case.
Have you tried re-interviewing the devices as a first step?
Hell has officially frozen over.

After the horror of watching an older friend succumb to early onset Alzheimer’s and literally becoming an inanimate object with a pulse, IMO the risks of these drugs are meaningless. The real horror is forcing these people to continue living when they can no longer speak, eat or even be aware of where they are. It is utterly cruel.
If my friend had realized how she was going to end up she would have taken a one-way trip to Switzerland a decade before she finally died.
You’d think running against a Russian agent, pedophile, rapist, thief, insurrectionist and an unapologetic fascist would be easy, but the Democrats will “Go High” and fuck it up again anyway.
For years there were opinion pieces in publications about how much better renting is than buying. Financial experts made the case that the expense of purchasing and maintenance weren’t worth any benefits of ownership, especially in the long term. After dealing with big rent increases, insane landlords, and apartments being shown while I was living in them I wasn’t convinced. When adding in the relative stability in the of costs of ownership I always thought those experts were full of crap.
Turns out none of those articles took sudden increases in property values and rent into account. Trying to rent an apartment for someone on a moderate fixed income in my area has become damn near impossible. Rents have gone up ~60% in 5 years far exceeding the COL increases most people see from retirement income or even the raises they may be getting from their employers if they’re working.
Buying a home was one of the best financial decisions I’ve ever made.
Let’s see here… Billions paid for illegal tariffs, massive increases in food prices, a collapse of international tourism, reduction in all travel due to the refusal to fund TSA, massive DOGE layoffs, further layoffs and closures of multiple government agencies, multiple government shutdowns, fuel price increases we’re just seeing the start of, double digit electricity rate increases, doubling and tripling of healthcare costs for millions of Americans, and international boycotts of American products. That’s just some of the dumpster fire Trump and the Grand Old Pedophiles have provided us. Too bad there’s not a way to include Trump’s misery factor.
We’ll be very lucky if it isn’t a full blown depression.
Battery charge limit will allow you to set it to stop charging at partial charge. Doing so greatly increases the battery lifespan and can reduce possible fire risk even further while still leaving far more backup time than a UPS would provide.
See if that laptop model allows you to limit the battery charge. If the battery’s still holding a charge, isn’t swollen, and is kept at room temperature you have about a 1 in a million chance of a battery fire.
Parking your car in your garage has hundreds of times more fire risk.
The Nazi asshole lives in a bubble surrounded by other Nazis and thought the majority of the country would sieg heil right along with him.
Somebody here pointed out that Hitler had a 30% approval rating at the end of WWII.
A Dell 3140 laptop. With HA and a number of other apps it loafs along at about 5% CPU. When Frigate is enabled it jumps up to 14% or so while drawing between 6 and 12 watts. The battery prevents power blinks in our area from being a problem, unlike my Pi4 that crashed and didn’t recover when I was hundreds of miles away. The battery lasts hours when the power fails and the keyboard and display are convenient.
For those concerned about the battery, it’s firmware limited to a 70% charge so it will last years. Current Li-Ion batteries have about a 1 in a million chance of fire. A car parked in your garage is hundreds of times more of a risk.
It’s been excellent and I’d buy it again.
Try testing TLP in battery mode even if you’re not using a laptop. You can configure all kinds of things to your liking with it.
I tried it out a few years ago and none of my server apps showed any noticeable decrease in performance with it running, but my power monitoring plug did show a reduction in power consumption. I ended up leaving it enabled all the time.
That was my plan, but since GrapheneOS is based on Google’s Android 16 code I’d expect it to have the same bugs.

Mexico's President Sheinbaum Decrees Universal Healthcare for 120 Million (thedeepdive.ca)
Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum has issued a landmark decree to establish a Universal Health Service, initiating a process to ensure all 120 million citizens can access any public medical institution. The first phase begins April 13 with the rollout of a new Universal Health Credential, starting with citizens aged 85 and older. This unified digital and physical platform aims to eventually streamline care across facilities like the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), the Institute for Social Security and Services for State Workers (ISSSTE), and IMSS-Bienestar.
Trump just lost the war in Iran (sfgate.com)
If you’re reading this post this afternoon and you happen to be Iranian, congratulations. Your civilization didn’t die last night. I know it got a little bit dicey there for a minute, what with President Donald Trump promising that full-scale Armageddon would arrive at the stroke of 8 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday night. But Donald Trump’s arbitrary deadline came and went last evening and you and I are still here. The nation of Iran is also, thankfully, still here.
Pentagon Threatened the Pope After He Criticized Trump (newrepublic.com)
Relations between the U.S. and the Catholic Church have not been the same since January, when senior U.S. defense officials shared an abrasive message with a Vatican official.
Bombshell Report Reveals Trump Was Begging for Iran to Join Ceasefire (newrepublic.com)
Recent reporting from the Financial Times reveals it was President Trump, not the Iranian government, who was begging for a ceasefire.

Trump Freaks Out After Tucker Carlson Implies He’s the Antichrist (newrepublic.com)
Once a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump, conservative political commentator Tucker Carlson has fully turned against him over the war in Iran, going as far as to liken Trump to the Antichrist on his eponymous podcast.

Trump’s gone too far: Invoke the 25th Amendment before it’s too late (thehill.com)
On Easter morning, President Trump took to Truth Social and issued a statement that would have been unthinkable from any other modern American president. Just reading it was visceral: “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran,” he wrote a little after 8 a.m. “Open the F–kin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell — JUST WATCH. Praise be to Allah.”
You Can Smell It Now: The Trump Presidency Is in Total Free Fall (newrepublic.com)
A loyal army of followers, a huge disinformation network, and a party of soul-selling cowards can crowd out facts for a long time. But eventually, reality catches up.
