I mean Zelensky is a big fan and supporter of Israel. And also a fascist dictator who has shut down news outlets, banned political parties, and cancelled elections in Ukraine. So this tracks. Although not sure what these means for all the out and proud Bandera-worshipping Nazis in the Ukrainian government and armed forces. They’re probably immune because they’re basically Zelensky’s secret police who, among other things, slaughter ethnic Russians in the Donbas, abduct men off the streets for forced conscription, and murder Ukrainian leftists and socialists who engage in activism against the Zelensky regime.

Again <30% want independence from China

The “government” of Taiwan is the equivalent of if MAGA invaded Hawaii and claimed that the rest of the continental US was now called Hawaii and ruled by them. The Taiwanese govt is a historically far-right US puppet govt that is one of the biggest supporters of Israel and its genocide. And according to polling in Taiwan, less than 30% of Taiwanese people want independence from China.

Ok we’re talking about the elections not the candidate selection process. The only candidates we get to vote for in the US have to be approved by the shady dark money billionaire class and the lobby of an evil genocidal ethnostate. If it is indeed true that the Ayatollah has to approve candidates in Iran, I’d rather take my chances with one well-known dude with some degree of morals than with a bunch of faceless warmongering capitalist pigs. But I’m just an anti-imperialist idiot that wants peace in the Middle East so don’t listen to me.

Masoud Pezeshkian won the 2024 Iranian presidential election on July 6 and was inaugurated July 28. Pezeshkian, who is still president, has criticized the Iranian government’s handling of protesters in the past, is an advocate for the rights of ethnic minorities in Iran (like the Kurds and Azeris), and has appointed two women as Vice Presidents, one as a minister in his cabinet, and a woman as his spokesperson.

The Ayatollah is the equivalent of the Queen of England + the Archbishop of Canterbury and has both political and religious power, but the president is elected by the people of Iran and runs the country along with various councils. According to the UN, the official leader of Iran is the president, not the Ayatollah.

Maybe try to diversify your media intake so you’re not only consuming narratives manufactured to support US imperialism and hegemony (I.e. billionaire-owned mainstream media). I recommend reading President Pezeshkian’s message to the American people he posted the other day. We would be lucky to have a president as intelligent and humane as him.

Iran is not an authoritarian theocracy that tramples on the rights of women. You know who is? Saudi Arabia, a US ally (and vassal state), where women can’t vote or drive cars. You don’t see us bombing and regime changing them. You know why? Because they do what the US says and we profit off of their oil. Iranian women can vote and Iran has a much higher percentage of women in higher education/who have graduated with PhDs than the US. Iran even has a hugely larger literacy rate among its population than the US.

The official death toll from the supposed tens of thousands of “peaceful protesters” killed by the Iranian government is reported as around 3,500. Israel even admitted that these were largely Kurdish separatists and other violent pro-West agitators in Iran that were being incited, armed, and organized by the CIA and the Mossad (who infiltrated and operated with the help of smuggled Starlink terminals–the only reason the riots ended was because Iran blacked out their internet to stop CIA/Mossad communications with their organizers outside Iran). These rioters were fucking burning down schools and mosques. Conveniently, these incited riots happened right before USreal started committing war crimes against Iran, and the whole of Western mainstream media ran with it, some saying 7,000 “peaceful protesters” killed, some saying 10,000, some saying 30,000, some even saying 80,000. These claims were in the service of manufacturing consent among the public of Western nations to tolerate and/or support these aggressions against the sovereign nation of Iran.

This is all besides the point, though. Regardless of what happens in other countries or whether or not their governments are oppressive or “democratic” or WHATEVER, IT IS WRONG FOR THE US OR ANY OTHER COUNTRY TO INTERFERE IN THE GOVERNMENT OF ANY OTHER COUNTRY TO DEPOSE THEIR LEADERS AND STEAL THEIR RESOURCES. PERIOD.

The thing with people like you is you’re informed solely by Western imperial war propaganda, which has whole agencies devoted to smearing those who pose a threat to US hegemony. The reality is this is a world made up of sovereign nations who have been largely threatened, sanctioned, and attacked by the US empire since its inception, especially those who are communist or who have been communist in the past.

Why are you repeating Trump’s war propaganda for free, helping him and Israel slaughter civilians, journalists, and healthcare workers, and destroy schools, hospitals, and homes? Calling Iran’s democratically-elected government a “bad regime” is not only uninformed and childish but it is harmful—it is helping to manufacture consent among the public of the Western world to support or tolerate the continuation of these evil war crimes being committed against Iran by USrael.

USrael is bombing schools, hospitals, residential buildings, water processing plants, orphanages, ambulances, and journalists in Iran, Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon. Iran is targeting mega corporations, US bases, IsraHell, military commanders, and politicians AND they are making a ceasefire contingent on ending the genocide in Gaza. I think it’s safe to say Iran are the good guys here. If you believe they slaughtered 80,000 protesters in 48 hours, you’re drinking the CIA koolaid, friend.

If she backs it up with actions maybe. But words are empty and it’s too little too late. Her actions up until now have supported the occupying Zionist entity and its genocide. It’s hard for me and a lot of anti-Zionists to take her seriously when it is very obviously politically expedient for her to say this at this moment (especially right after Ana Kasparian called her out on twitter for her support of Israel). She’s still an opportunist that is part of an imperialist, Zionist party that is complicit in the murder of countless civilians across the globe, and, worst of all, doesn’t seem to understand that. You say “perfect is the enemy of the good” but what good is this for Gaza now when it is decimated and hundreds of thousands have been slaughtered, many still buried under the rubble?
