The friend I mentioned actively uses Facebook and Instagram. I have tried to argue against it many times but I am getting exhausted. I just don’t want to be forced to use spyware because the majority said so

I think the more automated the job is, the easier it is for people to get started. So with better farming technology I would expect more people interested on it.

I’m assuming you’re american given that you work 3 jobs? If so, I suggest saving some money and move to a place where people aren’t treated like assets or see a therapist. Both options require money ironically enough.

I would be fine with it if it was a locally hosted model. I’ve seen people come up with all sorts of devices to deal with loneliness in a crumbling society. Whether it is healthy from a psychological perspective is a gray area from what I understood. If you think a token predictor is enough to fulfill your romantic needs, fine. Just don’t have it running on a data center.

What made you choose Signal over WhatsApp (if applicable)?
I am trying to convince my group to switch from WhatsApp to Signal and we plan to vote on it soon. So, I plan to use the replies in this thread to compile a list of reasons to use as talking points. Preferably, I need something that can be understood on a personal level as some of my friends are deeply cynical and have no concern about escaping techno-feudalism and surveillance.
