I mean that’s sort of what I mean. I don’t always hold myself to my standards.

For example I’m a tree loving hippie, but I have a ICE car (luckily its currently broken). I had to get one for work, I needed to get parts during the work day etc. I would have bought a EV, had I had the money for one. But anyway, having that car there, if I had cravings for some potato chips in the middle of the night, every now and then I’d hop in and pop to the shops. Not saying that was a weekly thing, but a few times a year I’d do that.

But I’m not gonna start hating myself because of that. As long as its a rare thing, its fine. Or perhaps my principle is “do your best, don’t be too harsh on yourself.”

I came across this quote recently: “We dont need a hanful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly.” - Anne Marie Bonneau

Yes but also no. I’ve come to the conclusion that being too extreme is just stupid. You always need a little bit of wiggle room.

If they complain, you should just say “you lost, get over it” I’m sure they’ll understand, I hear they are very friendly and hospitable.

Not sure how helpful this is, but where I’m from, we often use “Jenkki” - Yank, when talking about you guys :D I know it has different meaning over there, here its sort of a neutral word. At least in my mind.

Its also a brand name of the most popular chewing gum, haha

Agreed. I was making a tongue in cheek comment about the absurdity of this whole thing. In my opinion, the parents are more responsible than the porn sites, but no one should be punished because young Peter managed to see a boob.

I really should remember to put a huge “THIS IS NOT A VERY SERIOUS COMMENT” on most of my comments. I find I’m way too snarky for text based communication.

Anyways. I’m not saying parents should be punished because their kid managed to watch porn. I was just making a joke about how stupid everything is.

I didn’t grow up with routers and android phones. My equivalent of breaking into the router and changing the password was to climb into the paper recycling container to find Donald Duck comics but ending up finding porno mags.

The fact is, kids are always going to find porn. There’s just no way around it. If they put ID proof protections on the websites, they just gonna figure out torrents or some other way of downloading stuff.

Been dealing with depression and anxiety for a couple of decades, sort of successfully. Couple of years ago got told I had cancer, a week after that my girlfriend broke up with me after a 7 year relationship, couple of weeks after that I got told that the garage space I was renting for extremely cheap was sold and I had to find a new place. Found a new place, got surgery on the cancer, had a few months of recovery, went back to work, rent was now 4 times more, while I was doing the move and dealing with the cancer my customers found new places. I ended up with not enough customers, couldn’t pay the rent, had to close shop. Now I’m even more depressed, out of money and I have no idea what to do, how to get out of this hole. Most of the solutions I’ve come up with are on the darker side but as for now, I’m still being too stubborn to quit things. I have a feeling that I’ll reevaluate the situation when autumn arrives.

But hey, at least the cancer is gone.

I wonder why the EU didn’t find the parents of the kids to be in breach of whatever relevant child “protection” laws there are? I guess they are okay with the porn websites raising the kids. Maybe the EU can make PornHub to start a chain of day care centers?

Well that’s what it sounds like to me. You’d rather let the pan fire get out of hand, run outside and hope the fire department gets there in time, rather than covering the pot with a fire blanket or a lid.

OK, so I fight at the front while maybe they are bombed at home. I’d rather use my skills to take the Balkan route the other way around with them to safety

When the Ukraine war started, I made a plans. If russia would have attacked us, I made a plan for my (now ex) German girlfriend to join my parents and for them to go to my sisters house in the north west of the country and from there over to Sweden, from there possibly back to Germany or just stay in Sweden. I would have gone to the front lines while they do that.

I don’t have a house, probably never will own one, cannot afford. I would be defending the house of my landlord who owns 6 houses. I don’t see the need.

So instead of paying rent, you’d rather have your house bombed to the ground? Seems a bit weird but okay..

It is a nice park, but the playgrounds for my children are broken, as “we don’t have the money to fix them”. Yeah, right, maybe ask my landlord about where that money is. The austerity kills everything beautiful in the cities, but apparently “there’s no alternative”. So in five years time the park is not worth defending anymore.

So the better option is to let a russian tank roll over the remains of the park and maybe set up a air defense system there?

You mean slaving in a soulless office for scraps, that will never buy me a home (see above), while politicians tell me “you need to work more for your country, oh, btw, we cannot afford social security and healthcare anymore ¯_(ツ)_/¯” All the while my kids go crazy with all the pressure and constant crisis around them.

“Things are bad now so I’m fine with them getting horribly bad. I work in a horrible job so I’m okay if bombs start raining on peoples houses.”

Not gonna defend that asshole. He wants to ban gay marriage, deport brown people and thinks renewable energy will, idk, kill him or something.

“My neighbor is a bigoted arsehole, so I’m fine with the whole neighborhood being razed to the ground”

Might be cynical but that’s how I hear what you are saying.
