Great Game โญโญโญโญโญ
The passage north of the Museum ist very sneaky :P
Playing the game and fully compelted the main story but im having some touble getting the bottom row of the large puzzles? and im missing 4 ducks... i have a feeling this is related
Just finished the Plus version with 208%! Great little game - I really enjoyed it. Funny how my brain had to adjust to 4*4 grids after doing thousands of 5*5 grids in other games!
Quick question: I've seen mentions of debug boots online, but couldn't find them - is that something only in the non-plus version?
Thank you so much for your support and I'm glad you enjoyed TaiFab!
The ability to run with the B-button is standard in the Plus version, so it doesn't need the debug boots. ๐ The run function in TaiFabPlus works exactly the same as the debug boots in the original release. I didn't make running the standard for the original TaiFab because it made the sprites shudder, but it doesn't do that on the GBC! Better processing power, I suppose. ๐
Gotcha! Thought that may be the case. Thanks for the response. I very much enjoyed the game ><>
Finished the game this morning, 202%. This game was a lot of fun and all the puzzles are very well thought out :] Thank you!
Thank you for playing! I'm so glad you liked it! :D
Just finished the game (202/202) now and I absolutely loved it! Thank you so much <3
Yay, I'm glad you liked TaiFab!! :D
I love nonogram games, and this is super quick and fun! Iโm going to try running it on an emulator on my phone, as I see myself playing it while on the train : )
I'm so glad you like TaiFab! I hope it runs well on your phone! ๐
I've solved your labyrinth, puzzle master!
lol, congratulations and GG!! ๐ Thank you for daring to enter my weird fish labyrinth. ๐ I really appreciate your support!
Hearing my namesake song in this game was such a nice surprise. What a fantastic little game, thank you for your work on this!
I love Pathetique! It's one of my absolute favorites. ๐ ๐ถ Good choice for a screen name!
Thank you for playing and commenting! You're very kind! ๐
Hi, I feel very silly but I think I'm stuck and can't figure out how to progress, I've really been enjoying it! I've found all four feathers, I have the power of one fish (Chad), and have completed all puzzles I can find, including the ones you need to dig up, and the developer house ones. I have a shovel, clam, bag of money, and harp in my inventory. I can't drink any soup, I can't interact with anything that requires more fish power, and I can't pass through fire. Am I missing something? I feel like I've done everything so far!
Look around the museum some more
Thank you! I thought I'd clicked on quite literally everything in there but evidently I hadn't. Snorkel acquired!
Yay, glad you found it! Let us know if you need any more hints! :D
I did it! It took a while. I only needed help finding one puzzle, thankfully I found a hint in the comments.
Congratulations and GG!! ๐ I hope you enjoyed TaiFab!
Where can i found the item?
Hint: Have you checked the fireplace in the inn? ๐ Please let me know if you need any more help! Thank you for playing TaiFab!
Just cleared it 100%! Thanks so much for a very fun game ^^
Thank you so much for playing TaiFab! I'm really glad you like it! :D
Havent even played yet and i can already tell ill love it! i spent the extra dollar and this might sound stupid but what are the links for? does gbc stand for game boy color?
That's not a stupid question, and I'm glad you asked! ๐ Yes, .gbc is a Game Boy Color compatible file. You can play TaiFab on a real Game Boy Color (if you have the right set-up) or on a GBC emulator. I personally use Bizhawk (https://tasvideos.org/BizHawk/ReleaseHistory) to play GBC games on my computer, but there are many emulators available. ๐
Please let me know if you have any other questions, and I hope you enjoy TaiFab! I really appreciate your support!
Done at 208% with the plus version. The picross UI is very well made and I'd love to have it as a single game with more / random puzzles. How long do we have to wait for a Sequel?
Thank you so much for playing and supporting TaiFab! I'm so glad you liked it! ๐
I'm hoping to release Taiyaki Fabulous Test Kitchen by the end of this year. ๐ However, I worked on another game which will hopefully come out next month! It's called Pixel Pup, and it will have lots of puzzles, including random puzzles!
oh itโs gba this time! Iโll get it on day one
I'm at 200%, and it's super fun! I love how you had enough story to make it interesting but not so much that it's too complicated. I'm missing one 8x8, can you help me find it?
Thanks for playing, and thank you for your kind comment! As for the missing puzzle:
Did you meet anyone who was thirsty? Can you give them water now? :)
Got it, thank you!
I love this game so so much, only partway through playing it but I'm obsessed. I'm having trouble finding the diamond for the crystal lake though, can anyone help me out?
edit:nvm I found it!
So glad you found it! Thank you for playing TaiFab!! :D
fun little game, managed to get 208% on my gbc :) the plus version is well worth the extra dollar. crossing out numbers and saving anywhere is dang useful! plus you get to support the dev a tiny bit
Thank you for playing TaiFabPlus! I really appreciate your support!! ๐
I had an amazing time with this game; binged it all the way to 202%!
There was *just* the right amount of dialogue/exploration and I loved stumbling on layers upon layers of secrets and extras.
Yay, I'm so glad you enjoyed TaiFab! Thanks for playing and GG on 202% completion!!
I'm here from Jack Ververis' video on youtube about Picross/nonogram games! Happy to have another nonogram game for my retro collection.
I really enjoyed that video and added some of those games to my own to-play list! ๐ I hope you enjoy TaiFab and all the other awesome nonogram games out there! BTW, the video maker didn't mention Logiart Grimoire, but that's one of my favorites and I highly recommend it if you haven't already played it.
Hello, thank you for making such a great game!
Retroarch is having trouble pulling up the retroachivements for my game, even though they exist (https://retroachievements.org/game/32004). I suspect it's because I have TaiFabPlus and the hash doesn't match. Would it be possible to add the hash to retroachievements? I really like the QoL features from TaiFabPlus but would love to get retroachievements too.
Thank you!
Yeah, unfortunately TaiFabPlus is verrrrrry different--I significantly revised the code, so although it has mostly the same player-facing content as the free version, it's actually a different game. You can see this comment from the person who developed the RetroAchievements integration:
At any rate, I really appreciate your kind comment and I'm so glad you like TaiFab! ๐
Aww okay, no worries! Thanks for explaining! And of course I already appreciate Layton's work in setting up RA for the free version :)
Maybe after I complete the game, I'll send my TaiFabPlus save file in the RA discord and see if I can get credited for the equivalent achievements in the free version.
Looking forward to the sequel game that I think I saw mentioned (though of course I don't mean this as pressure to work on it, I just hope it's going well!)
I hope you can get credit for your achievements!
Yeah, I'm working on a sequel called Taiyaki Fabulous Test Kitchen (GBC) that I am aiming to release later this year! I'm also collaborating with Matt of Retro Dot Cards on Pixel Pup (GBA), and we will probably release it in the next month or so. ๐ Thanks so much for your interest in my games!
i love this game so much! is there a way to preserve game progress from my browser to TaiFabPlus? im even being overly cautious and commenting this on a separate browser because i originally played it logged out :')
Unfortunately, TaiFabPlus is actually a totally different game from the browser release! I revised the code a lot and the variables are all mapped differently, so the saves are not compatible. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Thank you so much for playing TaiFab and for your kind comment!! ๐
ah well, thanks! ive now beaten it 202% :) i had trouble finding a couple of the puzzles but luckily they were both explained in the comments some time ago. it feels like a lot of love was put into this game and i like it a lot. perhaps someday ill give it a rematch in the plus version >:)
GG on finding all the puzzles, and thank you for your kind comment! I'm so glad people enjoy my weird little game. :D
Long live Chad
Thank you for your thoughtful comment! GG on completing every puzzle!! :D
Can anyone help me out? I've see to have gotten stuck. I'm having an absolutely amazing time though! Attempting to trigger a read more for spoilers:
I've done the dream rooms in the dev house and the inn. and I feel like I've gone everywhere?
Can you give us more information so that we can help you better? If you press the start button you can bring up the Inventory or albums, and if you show us a screenshot of some of those that will give us an idea of where you are in the game.
hjmmmm i didn't get to do the duck stuff though? Any tips on how to get more duck power?
You need 7 fish power before you can find all of the ducks. Before you have 7 fish power you can only find 4 out of 8 ducks
Could we get a .pocket file for TaiFabPlus? :)
Oh, nobody was really downloading the .pocket file for the browser version, so I didn't bother to generate one for TaiFabPlus! I'm not in a good situation to do that right now, but I could possibly take a look at it later
I don't have an Analogue Pocket, so I don't really know its technical specs, but can it play .gb ROMs as well as .pocket games? ๐ (When I put out the first .pocket file, I had to ask a friend of mine to check it for playability. He's in the credits because of that! ๐)
Sadly you need to patch ROMs into .pocket files to load them, or get a flash cart, or run your own FPGA core to load them in.
Not a huge deal, I may just play regular TaiFab instead. Thanks for replying!
Thanks for getting in touch! Please let me know if there's anything else I can help with!
Hi there, I've been playing this game for a little over a week and I really love it. However, I'm kind of stuck now and don't know anywhere else to get the fish(or duck) power. I know there must be another place because the top leaf is still inactive but I feel like I've explored the entire island. If anyone can help that would be great, thank you!
Have you tried exploring north of the museum? ๐ Thank you so much for playing and commenting!
BTW, I'm so sorry for this really late reply! Itch buries the pending comments in a sub-sub-menu, so I had no idea these comments existed until a couple days ago!
I hadn't, with the issue, so thank you!
i love this game! i cannot find the lucid dream, can someone tell me where it is?
Have you tried checking the area north of the museum? ๐ (Sorry for the very late reply on this! I only just discovered the pending comments menu! I think Itch's interface for that is pretty bad.) Thank you for playing!
Fun game! I never thought I would get so invested in a game about nonograms, but I just 100% the game, and found myself surprisingly invested in the story! It is really impressive how you were able to design nonograms with such a range of difficulties, but with the designs still looking so cool!
A suggestion: Not all the nonograms that are not visible in the overworld appear in the album, so if they could either appear there, or if you could interact with the object to see what the nonogram was, it would be cool.
Thank you for your thoughtful suggestion and comments! I'm so glad you enjoyed TaiFab!! :D
Thanks for answering! Also, by the way, what does the Japanese in the bonus area say?
It says 'taiyaki.' :D
Of course it does. Nice easter egg!
Can someone help me find where the 3rd row 4th column 8x8 puzzle is :(
I found it! All puzzles get!
I've been chipping away at this game for several weeks now during downtime in a hospital IV cleanroom. You really never know what circumstances someone will play your game in. Loved the game very much and I appreciate the entertainment you provided for me :)
I'm glad you found the last puzzle, congrats!! And wow, TaiFab really is being played in all sorts of circumstances! Thank you for sharing that and also for your kind comment. <3
very nice! unfortunately my fingers were cramping cause I'm on an azerty keyboard but that's not too bad!
You can also download the game and play it on an emulator! The browser version of the ROM can be downloaded for free. ๐ I'm glad you're enjoying TaiFab, and I'm sorry the browser emulator controls are not ideal!
since i saw jerma playing nonograms i got into this style of puzzle and the fact that this is a super cute gameboy rpg makes it cozier and irresistable! this was cute as hell and a fun way to practice nonograms. i believe i solved all the puzzles. this was awesome!
Congratulations on beating all the puzzles, and thank you for playing TaiFab! ๐ Let me know if you want recommendations for other nonogram games--I'm a huge fan! ๐
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAH BABYYYYYYYYYYYYY
This game was so incredibly fun and charming. I've spent the past few days playing this practically nonstop despite it literally just being fish and nonograms. I had no idea I'd enjoy this as much as I did. Beautiful work.
Thank you so much for playing!! I'm really glad you had fun with TaiFab! :D
thanks for introducing me to nonograms! I have been playing during downtime at work the last few weeks. I am so close to finishing but am missing one 8x8 that i just can't seem to find...I would deeply appreciate any hints! Thank you for putting so much time into this silly and wonderful thing!!!
Your missing puzzle is in the Bed and Breakfast.

When normal people go into shops, they talk to shop keepers across counters. Counters create a little 'Employees Only' space for things that customers shouldn't be touching, like cash registers and the like.
Don't be a normal person
thank you so much for this, i swear i checked over the whole island four or five times and never tried that
Thanks so much for playing and commenting! I'm glad that TaiFab has introduced you to nonograms--I'm a big fan of them!
Columbrine has given you a good hint for your missing puzzle. Let us know if you need anything else! ๐
i wound up quite obsessed with this game i fear![]()
I hope you enjoyed it! :)
Played on browser. Enjoyed the game so far! Loved the ending, so cute and fun. Really good game and nice music. The saving feature works good, thank you.
I would love to have some kind of menu to manage the music and play my favorite track on repeat or just listen to a personalized playlist on loop.
There is one thing I did not like it: the music lowers when you play any puzzle. It is a nice touch, don't get me wrong (I did like it). But if I raise up the volume to hear better the puzzle music, when I finish the puzzle is too loud. I play with earphones sometimes and need to readjust volume all the time.
For a long session playing this game, I listen to a podcast instead or play my own music. So lovely <3
I'm really glad you enjoyed TaiFab! Yeah, I chose to lower the music during puzzles because I find music and sounds distracting when I solve a puzzle, but I'm sure other people may feel differently. ๐ If you like the soundtrack for TaiFab, you can download it for free! https://objetdiscret.itch.io/fab-class-tunes
Thanks for playing and commenting! ๐
Oh, cool! Thank you! Loved the Satie retro version so much! <3 <3 <3 Cozy vibes <3 <3 I understand why you did lower the music during puzzles, it is nice.
Im just picky up about this kind of things. I get distracted and overwhelmed by external inputs really easy. :P
I had already commented how i felt about this game a long time ago so I just wanted to share this with yall today (๏พโใฎโ)๏พ*:๏ฝฅ๏พโง
Congratulations and GG!! Thank you for playing! :D
this was a very cute and addictive game. thank you :)
Yay, thanks for playing!! :D
The experience of this game very very pleasant. I enjoyed it a lot. <3
Thank you so much for playing! :D I'm glad you enjoyed TaiFab!
Absolutely loving this one, reminded me of the original gb games , where you would create yourself an idea of what the game could be just by looking at the box, then playing and getting a completely different experience out of it, and still enjoying it and discovering it more and more as you progress trough it !
Thank you for your kind comment! I'm glad that you are enjoying TaiFab! :D
Loved this, played through everything. Long live Chad!
Thanks for playing!! ๐ฆ ๐
just amazing. I wish every logic puzzle ever could be wrapped in a hilarious cute story like this!!
Thank you so much for playing TaiFab!! :D I'm glad you like it!
