From Vienna to Beijing, there is a sense of unease: Chinese giant JD.com’s investment in MediaMarkt’s parent company, Ceconomy, is facing unexpected resistance…
As an Austrian who started to boycott media Markt because of the Chinese take over I am surprised and delighted by the unexpected basedness of my government.
Force them to accept the same terms western companies must accept to “own” businesses I’m China
Now do the same with yank acquisitions of our companies!
Wait I always thought Media Markt was German. Good on them for stopping the takeover. I have already been avoiding them in recent months.
Nice.
I actually still wonder who even goes to these stores? Abysmal support, the worst ratings, and what for? Are there still so many clueless boomer who want a new TV and choose one of the 20 models they currently have?
I bought my TV there. I wanted to physically see and compare the options I’d narrowed my choice to, and I believe in rewarding the company that provides the service I need. I’m really happy, I got a great deal on a display model.
I might be a bit obsessive about getting the absolute best bang for bucks, but I couldn’t make such decisions when only offered a fraction of the market.
But if it works for you, then that’s cool of course.
I think you misunderstood me. I looked online and made a shortlist of TV’s that I liked. Then I checked which physical stores near me had those TVs on display. I didn’t limit myself to MediaMarkt’s offer, they just happened to include 2 of the models I wanted to see.
Ah yes indeed I misunderstood. That makes way more sense this way :)
Idk but last time I bought something there and had to return it I had no issues whatsoever. They offer competitive prices at least for some products. Delivery was fast so far. It’s no Amazon but European alternatives are somewhat scarce.
Which country? I can only speak for Germany. And here they get really the worst of the worst reviews for horrible support.
Never really tried as I prefer online shopping, but the sheer amount of negative opinions would keep me from finding out.
And true yes. There isn’t much competition for amazon.
I actually had great experiences there when i need something. Customer support is also fine in my experience. A while back i bought a screen online, turned out it was curved. Took it to the store, a day after the return window had ended(!) and they took it without complaint, even as i had already opened the box. Dude even found me another one without the curve they had in stock with the same technical specs, only cost me the 10€ price difference. Fuck online shopping at this point lol

Germany myself 😅
The Username kind of gives it away :D
Oh okay, i actually didn’t even see the username :-) Then lucky you, or tons of fake reviews/comments about them…nowadays i wouldn’t even wonder.
