I’m excited to announce that v1.81.0 of the app is finally ready to be released. This update refreshes the look of the default user experience hopefully for the better.
You can see a screenshot of this new default user experience here:

To make the new user experience possible, three new features have been added to Summit:
- A new post feed header style named “Compact”. This is meant to give the user slightly more information about the community they are browsing without taking up too much of the screen. This will be on by default going forwards. (You can turn off post headers in Settings > Post Feed. You can also revert the style to the previous design.)
- A new post header style named “Compact”. This makes the header on each post prefer a single line instead of two lines, making posts more compact and reducing some redundant information. The post header style can be adjusted on a per-post style basis. In this release only the new List and Compact style will use the “Compact” header style by default.
- A new post style named “List” (the old “List” style is now named “List (old)”). This style is designed to be much more compact than the previous List style, trying to be a good compromise between the old List style and Compact. This post style is now the default.
As usual, all of these changes can be reverted via settings.

This update made the app icon disappear for me. I just see the default android logo on draft paper background.Looks like a my phone issue, all of my apps that were updated overnight lost the icons. Wack
I usually hate these kind of updates, but this is really well done. 10/10
I like the new header! It makes the UI more interesting.
Really enjoy your app!
Can you make the title font size adjustable? I would like to have them a little bigger than the other text but currently there is no option.
I really like the new look!
EDIT: When browsing multi-communities, the community description is set to “Unknown error. Please try again.”. It’s not a big deal, but you might want to change it for a default text?
Comment vote scores seem to have disappeared. I’m using the compact header style.
This should be fixed in the latest version. Please check for the update on the play store (or github).
Where’s my ‘subscribed’ list button gone??
Which subscribed list button?

I want to find this screen but it’s not where it used to be
Ohhh. Tap the title or anywhere near the top.
I highlighted the hotspots in the screenshot below

You can also revert back to the old layout in settings. I will also make a note of this in case I choose to tweak the UI later.
Thank you 🙂👍
Not sure if it’s intentional (or just something funky in my settings), but I noticed that the single line comment layout is no longer showing the score for comments unless I expand the actions for them. The multiline layout displays them fine though. This started in 1.81.0 AFAIK.
Sorry about that. Should be fixed now.
