Running out of beef would absolutely a good thing. It’s among the highest producers of CO2.

12·13 hours agoThe main reason I whine to kids when they cannot put their phones down is so that they would put their phones down. I’m not passively complaining about the state of the world, I’m doing what I’m supposed to as a parent and/or older person.
3·12 hours agoAsk a lefty if they’re in favour of charging people fines based on net worth/income, rather than based on a flat rate. Speeding ticket? That’ll be 0.5% of your annual salary, or 0.5% of your net worth, or a baseline minimum amount, whatever’s higher.
As a Finn, I’m perpetually amazed when that’s not how it works in every country. I’m not a lefty, nor poor, and I think that’s the only reasonable way to handle fines.

Meh. It’s just work, vision and lots of luck that leads to exponential growth. And when you start getting exponential growth to your investment, stopping the process of getting richer and richer would require active work to stop it from happening.
Only in fiction do people become rich by being compulsive about it.

22·2 days agoA globally defined minimum wage is a dumb idea. Even more so if it’s defined over a large area with wildly differing economic areas. Like for instance the United States.
Yet people who should know better, like Bernie Sanders, are actively talking about raising the federal minimum wage. Instead of the obvious idea, which would be to remove the whole thing.
