Well, in context, it’s more about the government addressing issues that people encounter in their daily lives and communities (potholes, public bathrooms, clean streets, etc.), as well as bringing visibility and awareness to these improvements. And how doing so will increase belief and participation in the government.

But, yeah, not enslaving the populace is good too…

“How many fingers am I holding up, Winston?”

Yeah, if we were into each other. How they present and their AGAB matching my own preferences would be a factor.

But at the end of the day, my “straightness” is just a convenient label. If someone gets voted in by the Tribunal (Heart, Mind, and Cock), all labels are ultimately superfluous.

I wish this were true… Unless I take preventative measures, my cat will finish her own meal, force her sister out of the way to eat the rest of hers, push open the cabinet I keep the cat food bags in, tear the side of a bag open, and eat until she can do nothing but waddle to bed…

Seriously tho, fuck rapists and rape apologists.

For me personally, they are a thing I get excited for, have dozens of ideas on what to wear randomly throughout the year. Then on October 31st suddenly realize it’s Halloween and I still don’t have a costume. Now I have to panic to find something that doesn’t look rushed, usually on a work day, and I need to get candy to hand out like I promised my significant other I wouldn’t forget this year. And by the time I make that happen, it’s a stupid costume and some lame last minute bag of candy, and I know it screams that I put it all off until the last minute again, and wearing it stresses me out because now all I can think about is how it’s a visual manifestation of my inability to manage even the simplest tasks.

So yeah…

In what I assume will come as no surprise… he did not. He speedran disingenuous, short-form culture war “debates” to farm clickbait engagement content for his media company until the day he died.

His arguments were never made in good faith. He wasn’t concerned with understanding other points of view, or even convincing his interlocutors of the validity of his beliefs (not that there was any validity to begin with).

His only concern was content generation.

Aww fuck, thanks for this post. I was in a doom spiral after too much scrolling and this gave it all a nice break.

Sure, that’s a fair take. And again, I feel bad belaboring this point, recognizing its triviality in the face of the actual horrors being wrought in our name.

But you and I are viewed as guilty as the belligerent Trump supporter by many. The trans kid who was kicked out of their home and protested this shit every day is being told they’re as responsible as the MAGA hat-wearing fanatic just for where they were born. The lifelong supporter of human rights will be counted amongst the rest for not taking up arms against the largest military in history.

And while I know this is an unpopular take on Lemmy, I even don’t believe the uninformed third who couldn’t be bothered to vote should be lumped in with Trump supporters. We have a tendency to view them as uncaring. And sure, a small percentage pushed asinine “both sides” arguments. But the reality is that for many, they had their hands full just surviving day to day in a society designed to barely leave them with enough energy and information to plan for their next meal.

The reality, at least from what I can see, is that most Americans are victims of a system designed to make them focus so hard on a false dichotomy that an alternative option feels like a pipe dream. This system has become so broken that the worst of humanity has been able to take control simply by virtue of their ability to demean their opposition. This dysfunction was an inevitable outcome of the system as it was designed. Not by any intent, but rather a flaw inherent to our First Past the Post voting.

Anyway, I’m rambling, and I know it’s not solving anything. But my point, or TL;DR, or whatever, is this: I lament that the people fighting oppression, that those just struggling to survive, and even those who were ignorant or misled enough to believe propaganda were all required by history to address problems beyond their power. And that when this day came, for all the aforementioned reasons, and those I can’t comprehend, we were not up to the task. And a part of me will always lament that our failure to stop evil will make us part of that evil in the eyes of history. Maybe we deserve it, I don’t know. But I know that many of us, in a better place, and a better time, would have had been forgotten by history as normal and decent people often are.

I think the thing that makes me saddest about the Trump regime… Is the support of genocides, senseless violence, wide spread human right violations, and accelerating destruction of the planet…

But somewhere much lower on that list is how many people in other countries think all Americans support this. And how when history looks back, we will be grouped in with those who supported him…

I wonder if this is what German’s who opposed Hitler felt like…

I actually adore this idea even without the added bonus of pissing off Nazi’s.

But now I just want to skip far enough into the future where this character gets her own spin off. And if it could ideally be done similar to the Punisher MAX series, I’d really appreciate it!

Awww.. they didn’t need vapes to do that

You ever read a post before checking the title? I was this close to asking “For real? Can I see?”, before I checked…

But for real though… can I see?

Fucking what!?

Edit: They are fucking right! Even more Pat!

Thanks friend!

I feel like a key difference between Google’s search Monopoly and Valve’s is the fact that Google paid off the competition to be the default on basically every browser.

Valve’s de facto monopoly is very real, or at least they absolutely dominate the PC game market (IANAL, no clue if Valve’s monopoly passes the legal bar). But outside of the SteamDeck and a couple gaming focused laptop’s, Steam doesn’t get forced on any user as the default. They personally install it.
