Welcome! Will be back later to discuss the suggested rules (other people have mostly said my concerns already), but for your awareness there was a thread requesting moderator rights of this sub a week ago that may have been missed by the admin that appointed you: https://lemmy.world/post/45162418
That might be a good place to start on finding additional mods.
Can we truly trust the existence of anything outside our immediate senses in the present moment? Is anything truly a thing? Can we trust our senses? Are questions like mine mental masturbation? Am I shitting right now, or is that my imagination?
The shit on the floor had better be my imagination.
Fuck.
The gamble is if there’s enough of these people in the right places to keep society running.
I’m not as confident as a lot of people seem to be that there are/would be. And that’s ignoring the aspects of training, physical ability, etc and just considering interest/desire.
Google’s LLM is Gemini, not ChatGPT, and they have no business contracts with OpenAI.
It’s an alt account too, I finally blocked the original account (think it was on lemmus.org) because the instance admins of lemmy.world seem to be dragging their feet on assigning new mods to this community.
The blue colorscheme indicates it’s from one of the non-18+ boards, and /v/ is the one of those that it would fit the most.
Technically you can set any board to any of a bunch of color schemes, but most users just leave the defaults or pick on dark theme for all of them.
Sweet! I just picked LE up and had started looking at mods for my playthrough. These reccomendations will make a nice starting point!
Unfortunately, according to his Wikipedia article, he died of cancer in 2023, so you may want to add the death year in the first heading.
Be prepared that it looks like it’ll be a giant robot anime but it’s far more about trauma in its many forms.
The Doom reboot seems to do a good job with it too. Green lights generally point the way to go.
Broken glass or porcelain, but specifically the idea that splinter sized shards could get missed, end up in my fingers or toes, I could somehow completely miss that they did, and then they’d just randomly cause intense sharp pinpricks of pain randomly for the rest of my life.
Like full on panic attack from a dropped glass breaking near me.
Like, I know how to deal with it, but still. Just put on your shoes, some gloves, carefully sweep up what you can, vaccuum with something that doesn’t blast air everywhere, then wipe a damp paper towel over the area to get any stragglers. If I’m extra paranoid I’ll let it dry then sweep and vacuum again.
I think it comes from some weird and intense growing pains I had like that growing up, plus repeated times in school I ended up getting nearly invisible stinging papercuts on my fingers.
Thank you! This is something I saw coming as games got more visually detailed and environments got more visually dense. There was this generation of “detective mode"/"spirit vision"/"highlight the important shit” and I remember that in some games it was so constantly necessary to use that to figure out where you needed to go that you spent more time in desaturated rave-land than seeing that actual game.
I feel like decent signposting, guiding the player towards interactables and points of interest, etc is slowly being lost in favor of “toggleable highlight vision” and yellow paint. It’s a fucking video game, use some rim-lighting or a sparkle effect. Point a toppled lamp at the ladder. Either go all in on realistic environments and work harder to direct your players in ways that don’t break immersion or accept some element of “game-ness” and just highlight the objects.
The toggle-able highlight vision fucks with the gameplay flow, and the yellow paint on shit that doesn’t make sense unless an omniscient helper is leading us just breaks immersion and versimilitude for me more than any glowing collectable does.
And for an actual answer, it depends on the games you have and if you have the proper peripherals (memory cards, analog controller for the few games that require or greatly benefit).
Even getting it connected to a modern TV requires an adapter, and while you might be able to get a “good enough” one for cheap online, it’s kind of a shitshow with unreliable cheap crap all over too.
Honestly if anyone is interested in PS1 amd doesn’t already have the “setup” of a decent CRT and the hardware, they’re probably better off emulating on their PC, maybe using a CRT shader.
If you want the “experience”, you’re better off getting a PS2 and soft-modding it. I wouldn’t even know where to start with trying to find a modchip and the right burnable CDs and drive to burn with for the PS1. Modded PS2s are backwards compatible with all but like one very obscure PS1 game, and they can load from an internal hard drive, network, or USB depending on the hardware model.
Yep, and be prepared to take a (minor) paycut and/or not work on something “shiny and impressive” in exchange for a better working environment.
So this guy definitely draws porn, right? The way they draw women is scantily clothed and very breastiful.
Animated, and set before Serenity so Wash is still alive. Last news is that Nathan Fillion is trying to find a studio to fund it, but the original cast (who are still alive) are all on board.
I’d strongly suggest Wisdom and secondarily Charisma.
You posting the edited comics as a comment response to other people posting the normally attributed ones is hilarious, and you probably could have pushed your contreversial idea about advertisement that way and just become the community’s resident weirdo (meant positively).
Instead, you lacked the wisdom to see the obvious ways your opinions about advertising don’t align with most people, and the key differences that at least most people recognize between corporate ads and individual artists signing their work.
INT is knowing a tomato is a fruit, WIS is knowing it doesn’t belong in a fruit salad.
Then you lacked the charisma to handle the disagreement in a way that didn’t make people even more upset with you.
I’d suggest that luck really only impacted how long you got to post the edited comics before the community caught on.

All that said, I agree it’s some shit that this all is spilling over on your sourced and unedited non-comic posts. You’ve been… ok outside of the edited comics and the contreversial take on attribution. I still think you’ve been interacting with the comics community intentionally in bad faith, but the rest has been pretty standard, just with shitpost-esque comments when people start coming down on you. That’s not a crime, that’s banter.
And it’s hilarious watching people fall for the most obvious trolling I’ve seen in a long time.

I mean, I enjoy the antics of the user qrstuv on the sdf lemmy instance, and they run a “news” community with vague inconsisent rules where you’re nearly guaranteed to get banned for commenting anything at all. They then opened a community called “mod abuse hotline” on the same instance and end up catching people complaining about their ban from his news community… not realizing they’re complaining to the very same guy. So qrstuv and a few others tend to cryptically tease the complainer and that’s that.
It’s weird, kinda mean, and funny. And now that you’ve slowed down to two easily downvote-able and hide-able edited comic posts a day, and usually link to the source, this qrstuv guy is doing more “bad” behavior than you. So I’m not a fan of the witch hunty shit following you to your “not bad” posts.
But a key part of qrstuv’s schtick is that it’s done in communities that qrstuv runs. They aren’t going into someone else’s community and pulling shit. That’s why I suggested that you create your own communities. You can set your own rules, ban the serial downvoters that want to punish you in unrelated contexts, and potentially grow to be just one of the slew of weird personalities on lemmy.
… you do realize the patriotism etc in Fallout is meant to be tongue in cheek, right?
I’ll give you that every new game loses more of that edge and trends closer to venerating it, but we’re still well within the satire range.
Everything went to hell because of it. The vaults are almost all horrifying experiments instead of actual shelters… etc.
It sure as hell isn’t lionizing patriotism and the attitudes of that era, unless you’re only reading surface level deep.
Puppy linux is wonderful as part of an IT “USB toolkit” for when it might not be safe to boot the normal OS, if you need to try data recovery on a dying HDD, or just need quick access to linux based tools.
And it’s surprisingly full featured for the small size. I’ve lived out of it for a week or so when a HDD died and I was waiting for a new one to ship.
Knoppix might be dead? That sucks. It was my first exposure to Linux. A family member who never participated in holiday gift-giving and almost never visited suddenly visited one day when I was young. I don’t remember much of the visit, but he left me with a Linux or Knoppix “for dummies” book with a Knoppix live bootable CD in it, and a burned disc of a more up to date version. He knew I was into tech, and this was pre-Steam days. Internet then was not what it is now, so it was a seriously nice gift for a growing nerdling.
He’s slightly more present now that I’m an adult, and he swears he has no memory of this. Or of Knoppix. But he daily drove Ubuntu as of a few years ago, and he’s the only family member even remotely techy and old enough for it to have been.
Maybe I was blessed by Tux himself?
Might have also been one of my Dad’s coworkers, as he got one of them to backlight mod my GBA back before the SP came out. But it would be very weird if I confused an actual visit. Maybe there was no visit and my dad just handed me the stuff and told me who it was from?
It’s a bit of a mystery, with significant impact to my life trajectory.

Burdened by the weight of intelligence
For when someone has been doing a bit too much navel gazing, or is a bit too in love with their own thoughts.
